Good day!

Color theory - it's playful concept, that will help you arrange your interior in accordance with your style. Today I decided to explain the basics and give some advice on clever interior design that includes itself: the psychological effects of color, color perception, and methods of their use in design interior.

How we see color? Our perception of color palette depends not only on us but also on the fact that currently surrounds us. For example: if you see a light green car in the sunset - you will see a light green and orange color of the car and the sun, respectively. But if you look at the part of the car through a cardboard tube and, therefore, does not see the surrounding area (the sun), color of the car will be different - salmon! Because in this case the brain is not able to separate the different light waves from each other.

What you see here are like shadows - it's actually a place on the wall where the light waves are not transmitted.

Light waves and their reflection of the level if all of the light is reflected on an object on your retina, you will see white, but if everything is absorbed - see black.

Synthesis color. By mixing the three primary colors: yellow, magenta and cyan, you get a different color. Here you can see the secondary colors, purple, orange and green, and tertiary colors, red-orange, yellow-orange, blue-green, etc.

Red + Blue = Purple; Yellow = Red + Orange; Blue + yellow = green.

Swiss artist and Bauhaus professor Johannes Itten (1888 - 1967) designed the famous chromatic circle selecting colors based on these combinations. In this round you will see cool colors, which includes - from blue-purple to green, and the panel with warm colors - from purple to yellow.

The color palette can be expanded by the addition of black and white. In nature, you can find not only yellow, magenta and cyan, but ultramarine blue, turquoise, etc.

Play in contrasts. If you need a fairly simple and pastel interior, you can use shades of your favorite colors, mixing it with black or white to make it bright and dark shades.

For the more daring interiors I have a few tips to help you play on the contrast due to the additional colors.

Additional contrast. Once again, look at the color circle of Itten: complementary colors - those that are located in a circle and have the widest variety of shades. This yellow and purple, blue and orange, and red and green. Additional color: reinforce and complement each other! So always be careful when using them.

The yellow color of the lamp gives a higher brightness to get a beautiful contrast with the blue cabinet.

My advice is to paint the walls in your favorite color and place small pieces of furniture in front of it, such as a dresser or a coffee table to play on the additional contrast. Wall accessories (such as a picture or a clock with more colors) also give a certain contrast in your space.

Quantitative contrast. Every shade of color has its own intensity, so you have to be careful in their experiments. For example: mixing of blue and orange color, will be sufficiently ratio 3: 1. Light colors usually mix more accurately.

Thus, placing a piece of furniture to contrast the wall, you will create the impression of spatial depth!

4 basic principle of color selection. If you want to play with the color palette at home, you need to know the four basic rules:

1.Stay true to your color taste. If you do not like bright colors, do not use! reduction in the intensity of the color ton (saturation) will also help you to create beautiful effects enough;

2.Think about how you plan to use the room. If it is - to sleep, avoid colors such as yellow or red;

3.Know your place. Think about where you would like to make the accent wall and its relationship with the furniture and accessories.

Some colors in addition require more natural light, so think about the presence of windows;

4.Try the color palette on the walls of the house. It is obvious that you may have preferences in the color palette, but if you have the opportunity, take a sample and paint a wall of a house. Since the lighting in the store is not the same as in your home, and how did you realize the perceived color is highly dependent on its environment. What you might like in the store, can greatly disappoint you at home!
