Laying the wall tiles (in pictures)
This simple guide on how to plan, prepare, cut, set the tile in the kitchen or bathroom. Before you start, make sure you have planned the location of the tiles. Usually, you can put a strip of a strip of tiles per day, using the method described here. If you are not using hard plastic spacers on the wall, you need to put the tiles to a height of 1.5 m, and then leave the glue to dry for at least 12 hours before continuing. Allow the glue to dry completely before overwrite.
Install furring
Install horizontal furring strips on the wall at the selected location. Use a level to sustain a right angle (Figure 1) and use the wiring of the detector to check a wall before you hammer nails. Make sure that you can easily remove the crates.
Place the vertical batten strip on the edge, this is the beginning of the first vertical row of tiles. The edge of the second strip at right angles to the first (figure 2).
Placing the first tile
Apply glue with a notched trowel, push it in the right angle from the carrier strip. (figure 1).
Spread glue, stretching its serrated edge of a spatula, if necessary several times. This improves the adhesion of each tile (figure 2).
Lay the first tile in the corner. Place the second tile next to it, does not forget to leave sufficient clearance between them (Figure 3). Strongly press, with a slight twisting motion.
Place the cross seal between the inner rings of the two upper corners (figure 4).
Aligning the tiles on level
Place the next row of tiles, maintaining the level, put crosses spacers between the tiles. Use a level to check regularly that the rows are straight (picture 1).
With every next check that the tile is dense and the surface at the same level. Attach the line to the surface of the tiles at an angle, and look, it should be based firmly on each tile (image 2).
Measurement, to fill the gaps and corners
After completion of the stacking allow adhesive to dry for approximately 12 hours. Then remove horizontal batten strip pulling nails hammered (figure 1).
Measure remaining by lathing slit at several points where the tile will be made, since the width may vary along the wall. Do not forget to leave a space for grouting (see Figure 2).
tile trim
Mark the cut tile by using the marker (figure 1). It is best to cut approximately in the middle, so less chance that the tile breaks.
- How to cut tile
To cut the tiles, insert it into the tile cutter, face up. Push the lever away from you to put it to the marked line (image 2).
Cut tiles into two pieces (Figure 3).
If the tile corners were sharp, they can be smoothed using sandpaper (figure 4). Before you install the cut tiles, apply glue to the back of the tile. It is easier to add adhesive tile itself, than wall space.
Place the tiles on the wall. To complete the wall, continue laying down the row to fill the horizontal slit (figure 5). Remove the vertical furring strip and repeat the process described above.
Filling tile joints
Before the work is required to wear gloves, using a damp sponge to wipe excess solution while it is still wet (figure 1). Avoid solution friction in joints between tiles.
Use shaper solution or finger to align the seams of the solution in line (figure 2), then once more with a clean damp sponge. After the solution has dried, polish the tiles with a dry cloth to remove any residue. The solution is in the seams must be flat and smooth, if it so that you have finished.
Alternative test method
Measurement of the hand (Figure 1)
For accuracy, please attach the tile face inward and mark the incision site.
Using measurements Jig (Figure 2)
Tile cutters often have a complete measurement tool, which you can easily measure the desired width of the tile plus space for a solution. Then inserted into the cutter as a guide.
