An architectural revolution: wooden facades of houses are back in fashion

Surely you have repeatedly heard the statement that fashion repeats itself in 30-40 years, but each time it was associated with clothing or jewelry. But what about architecture?

Will the traditions of wooden construction (architecture) be gone forever and there will be no second rebirth? It turns out that architects around the world are again trying to decorate the facades of concrete buildings with wood.

For the exterior decoration of this house, laminated maple panels made of spruce boards were chosen. Thanks to the groove-to-groove fastening, the transition between the boards becomes almost invisible to an outside observer.

Sheathing with natural wood has gained great popularity in the construction of frame houses, when lightness of construction is important, as in this case with a house on stilts on a hillside:

Interestingly, in this case, the tree is organically inscribed in the landscape design: it encircles the retaining wall and flower beds in the yard are made from the remains of the boards. Even the mulch in this area to the left of the house is wood shavings.

And in the Scandinavian countries, a combination of dark elements (ash gray and black) and natural wood has gained popularity. Often Finns, Swedes and Norwegians order wooden double-glazed windows for their estates, make open spaces from decking and display wooden furniture on them.
