How to insulate a frame house: my successful experience to avoid your mistakes

My story:
in the country kitchen (panel building, insulation of 100 mm of mineral wool), the temperature was only 2-3 degrees higher than outside. It got to the point that if it was -5 outside the window, then all the water in the kitchen froze: what's in the pipe, what's in any containers. It was almost impossible to be in the kitchen in extreme cold ...

To insulate the kitchen, I took four important steps, which I will tell you about (you may also find it useful):

  • Step one. Since the cold was mainly "sucked in" from below, I sewed up the kitchen underground with 55-mm penoplex and foamed the edges. Rockwool stone wool can also be used, but it must be insulated from moisture. In order not to stretch the films and not to sew an additional frame from the bottom of the floor, I used penoplex, foam and self-tapping screws with mushroom caps (pictured).
  • Step two. Since for our latitude, frame frames must have at least 150 mm of insulation, and would-be builders made wall frame made of 100-mm timber, we extended the wall to the standard 150 mm with the help of bars and insulated with a new one mineral wool.

  • Step three. We changed the insulation on the roof, now the thickness of the insulation is 300 mm, and not 100 mm, as it was before. Even at this stage, the kitchen began to keep the temperature around 15-16 degrees. But we did not stop there, and took the fourth step.
  • Step four. Insulation of the stairs.
    With the help of a pyrometer, it turned out that the only place that allowed the cold to pass was the stairs. Even despite the foam insulation, cold seeped somewhere.

    I decided to build up a wooden staircase by 50 mm with bars and fill the grooves with stone wool. Such is the frame turned out:

For greater effect, I used Izospan outdoor wind-moisture protective film - it holds the wind well and does not allow the cold to reach the insulation layer.

Thanks to these four steps, the temperature in the kitchen is confidently kept in the region of 23-25 ​​degrees. I think the result is excellent. I will add an article as it gets cold... While at -20 the flight is stable.
