How to choose lighting for your home and garden?
As truckers say, there are three types of light: near, far and "that light". Today, let's talk about lighting in a country house or apartment: how to choose it and what to look for.
- Many people believe that the most important thing in lighting fixtures is compliance with the overall interior design, but in fact this is not at all the case;
- Others are convinced that when choosing a luminaire, the dimensions of the room must be taken into account first of all, but they are also wrong.
The most important thing in choosing lighting devices is to think over the scenarios for its use. Three banal predictions are hidden behind difficult words - (1) in which part of the room will people be located,
(2) what they will be doing (eating, reading, working at the computer, taking a shower, etc.) and (3) where they will control the lighting devices.
Example: you have a long corridor (> 5 meters), one end of which ends with an entrance door, the other ends with an entrance to the room. For convenience, you need two switches:
second - when entering the room - to turn off / on the light when you go to sleep.
All this leads to a logical conclusion - already at the construction stage, you should know where you will have pieces of furniture that require one or another lighting.
- point in the form of spots - in the kitchen, near the dining tables;
- decorative sconce - near photo zones and recreation areas;
- subsidiary - lighting of stairs, skirting boards, kitchen apron;
- flooding - a hall chandelier.
By the way, I recommend installing the chandelier only at the ceiling height above 4 meters. Otherwise, it does not make sense, because illuminates only a small spot underneath. It is more logical and more economical to use a number of LED spots.
Thus, consider the details in the following sequence:
- usage scenarios;
- dimensions of the room (taking into account the height of the ceiling);
- stylistic solutions.
And not the other way around!
