It's time to save currants from gall outgrowths
Don't want to use chemistry in the garden, how I don't want to? It's time to examine the young leaves, whether they are not affected by any pest. I found gallic growths on currants, on red (more) and on black (less). The affected leaves look like this:
Last year I already saved the currants by removing diseased leaves. But these were big leaves. This year happened to the little ones. Currants are in buds:
I will continue examinations. In the past year, such swellings have appeared on adult leaves. Salvation is the same: tear it off and throw it away!
Who so spoiled the currant leaves
Most likely, this is a red gall aphid. In any case, this is how currant leaves affected by it look.
It is believed that the gall aphid begins its activity in June. And in this warm year, I saw the growths on April 20.
Gauls are swellings, bumps on the leaves. They could be formed by some bacteria, and fungi, and various insects. So I will not say that this is, I will tell you how I struggle.
Fight
So, she cut off the leaves in the morning and threw them away. Now, in the evening, you need to spray it with such a thing so that some aphid does not start:
Merlin bought in Leroy. 106 rubles, as far as I remember. Ready to eat. But! We have wind and rain, so I'm waiting for dry, calm weather for spraying.
It is necessary to have time to process a couple of times before flowering. Although it is written that the drug does not harm bees and other insects.
In stock I have an idea to process Fitoverm. They say it helps. I haven’t tried it yet. I'll start with tobacco :)
I also found an interesting advice to spray with Coca-Cola (without gases) :) If someone tried it, share your impressions. Most will laugh at the Coca-Cola recipe, but I admit that it can help. Don't trust, but check! Experience is our everything!
How do you deal with such a scourge?
I would be grateful for your subscription and communication :)
