Here, I decided to be curious about how buckets and watering cans are repaired
I looked at the work of the master with pleasure. How the old bucket has changed! And then a watering can. So easy and fast... Look! Using a bucket as an example.
Needed for repair
- Metal scissors
- Ruler
- Pliers
- File or emery stone
- Marker
- Solvent (degreaser)
- Sealant (sanitary silicone or other waterproof)
- Heavy object, such as a curb
- Small hammer
Galvanized buckets and watering cans from time to time find themselves with holes, mainly in the bottom.
What was done step by step
- The master cut the bottom
- File cleaned from burrs
- Further marking: 5 mm from the edge, this is the fold line
- The edge is gently bent with pliers at 90 °
- Checked on a horizontal surface, should be level
- I put the bucket on a galvanized sheet and drew a line
- I put a mark on the workpiece and on the bucket so that they coincide during installation
- Added 5mm around the bend
- Cut out the future bottom along the outer circle with scissors for metal
- File cleaned from burrs
- Bent with pliers along the markings
- Wiped with solvent
- Apply a small coat of sealant
- I put a bucket with a load on top, it had a curb, and began to roll the lock, in 5 or 6 passes. First with pliers, then with a hammer. The lock must close completely.
- Gently rubbed the seams with a damp cloth to smooth out the sealant.
- For a day, the sealant needs to "set"
- All! The next day you could use it!
Likewise with a watering can.
