Most Successful Season: Low Top Rot on Tomatoes
Most Successful Season: Low Top Rot on Tomatoes
Last season with top rot I had this history
In 2019, at the end of June, there were already a lot of spoiled tomatoes. Because it was late to start spraying with calcium nitrate. Almost all varieties leveled off after a couple of weeks, stopped suffering from calcium deficiency.
Now I started doing prevention earlier. June 29 was the last third spraying with calcium nitrate (1 g per 1 l)
A friend's top rot is raging with might and main, like mine was last year. Although she sprays calcium nitrate. That is, the time of this disease began long ago. It's time to fight.
Do not forget, the fruit affected by the top rot does not need to be removed, the bush has already adjusted to take calcium from it.
Only weeds themselves grow well
I will warn those who like to simplify everything. If everything grows on its own, and the harvest is enough for you, and you do not know what top rot is, do not read further.
What has changed this year
- In each well I put from two to four liters of vermicompost, a little ABA fertilizer. Agrovitamins ABA added to many tomatoes (there is calcium)
- Sprayed with fertilizers and bacteria
- I watered it with Flora C and Sotka Chernozem once a week, with one or the other (solution as light-light seagulls).
- Watering at the rate: in the heat 1 liter under the bush daily, this is important. Someone has apical rot due to lack of moisture.
- I began to spray with calcium nitrate on the first flowers, a total of 3 times has already happened.
I think the point is not in some kind of agricultural practice, but in relation to tomatoes. I love growing them! Care. Therefore, this year the picture is more encouraging than before.
I do not believe in miraculous feeding, at once, solving all problems. Only complex specific solutions. As you can see, 3 preventive sprays with calcium nitrate helped, but not to the point.
I'll put it simply if you are caught off guard by top rot, do not forget about watering and spray once a week with calcium nitrate, 1 g per 1 liter. Until the problem is solved.
