Stopping leaks under pressure. Checking if a special tool works?
The less the leak, the more difficult it is to eliminate it. I was convinced of this from my own experience.
Greetings, friends. New Year has arrived and my building story continues. I have already started writing about how he got rid of problems in his concrete basement.
And now it's time to pay attention to detail.
The most important task was to get rid of all leaks.
The most likely place where they could be was the junction, between the concrete walls, and the floor. I started with him.
Having pumped out as much water as possible from the basement, I left it alone for a few days. And then the result was visible.
- There was very little water added, which means that the leaks are very small.
- Some of them were noticeable by eye.
I decided to start with them.
After reading about the means for sealing such leaks, I decided to use a hydraulic seal, or rather a fast-setting cement mortar.
You can find many similar tools. Its main property - it solidifies in 2-3 minutes.
But in work, not everything is as simple as in the instructions.
There were many moments that needed to be worked out only through mistakes.
Surface preparation.
According to the instructions, ideally, everything should be clean and dry... But I’m sure no one else is.
In addition, it is better to expand the mother-in-law's place with a drill. The hole with a larger diameter is easier to seal, due to the fact that the composition fills everything from the inside. And a small oozing hole, or crack, is an additional problem.
Here I did everything in layers. The first layer of the composition must be applied as a base for better fixation of the layer that will keep flowing.
Consistency.
The thicker the better. I tried to get it almost dry. But you also need to act very quickly. Time for less than a minute, and the composition rises. But during this time, the fashion will not have time to get out.
The amount of material.
Better not to be sorry. I'm talking about the final layer.
I tried to use a smaller one at first. But in this case it turns out like a snowball: I covered it up, it leaked... I closed it, flow again... And so, in the end, the "cap" is still growing. So it's better, right away and for sure.
Thus, I have repaired about 7 leaks.
So this method is quite working. But for the final completion, some more work is required. But more on that, already in the following articles ...
