Box + roof. How much money have I already spent doing everything alone?

For a self-builder, the financial issue always comes first. I have already brought the house under the roof, how much money have I already spent?

To most people, this sounds stupid, but when I started building my own house, I did not expect that it will take so much money. 🤦‍♂️

Like many who have never encountered a construction site before, I naively believed in fairy tales that you can build a "house for a million." Plus, numerous advertisements on the Internet about the construction of turnkey houses from 1,500,000 rubles made me believe that I myself would definitely do everything cheaper.

The first works on the site were inexpensive.

And this, further strengthened the belief in the "cheap house".

Clearing the area from thickets, laying a section of the road (which simply did not exist), cost me about 70,000 rubles. And for me it, visually, was a lot of work.

But already the first construction season showed reality ...

I already wrote an article about how did you get a loan for construction, in the amount of 700,000 rubles (I thought enough... 🤣).

And how great my surprise was when, after pouring the foundation, I had about 150,000... I will not lie, maybe about 100,000 did not go to the construction site, and I spent about 50,000 on the fence, but the remaining 400,000 were spent as intended.

From the very beginning I wanted to keep track of the money spent, but somehow it didn't work out. And now I keep trying to remember where and how much was spent and even an approximate amount is not obtained. But there is no money, and this is a fact.

Further, it did not get better ...

The next 400,000 rubles were spent on the walls and roof. At the same time, I wanted to put the windows on it, and maybe the initial, interior decoration. In the end, it was not enough, and I had to add another 100,000 to just finish the bare box with the roof.

With all this, I will not say that I bought the best materials, and did everything with a margin of safety and reliability.

Eventually:

• House 9 by 9 meters.
• The foundation is a tape 400 by 400 mm, and on top of a slab is a floor on the ground, 100 mm (all a single monolith.
• walls - aerated concrete 300 mm. Metal roofing.

❗ And all this took, in its pure form, at least 1,000,000 rubles. And at the same time, I built everything myself.

Making a conclusion, I can say that the main costs in construction are the so-called "little things", which without experience, you simply do not know, or do not take into account, against the background, as it seems to you, of the main details.

And in the end, it turns out that I had already planned to live there, but in fact, it is not even close to see that ...

✅ But this article is not a "disappointment"... I just got a life lesson that I should learn for the future. 👆
