House without a project! Did I make the right decision by choosing this construction option?

I'm also a self-builder, and I do everything with my own hands. This is not bragging, but simply my path, which I entered, not knowing what awaited me.

Remembering the time when I was just imagining the construction of my house, I think: "What would I do differently?" And of course there are many things that I definitely did not do, or that I changed something in them.

But for me so far, the question remains:

Was it worth building a house without a project?

Even after two seasons of construction, for me there were no such arguments that would force me to finally draw conclusions.

Than, in my opinion, the project on my construction site would be useful:

Saving time.

How much time I spent thinking over this or that decision, just beyond words ...

And starting construction, I was sure that I had taken everything into account. But no! In the process, so many little things came out that it is impossible to know about without experience.

Rebar spacing, block nesting, multiple connection nodes... In a normal project, all decisions are already thought out for you!

❗ The absence of all this, in total, greatly hampered construction.

Cost savings.

All the constructive decisions that I made during the construction were, so to speak, "approximate", and were taken with a margin.

Foundation size, wall thickness, cross-section of floor beams and rafters... All this and much more is calculated in the project. This means there are no unnecessary stocks, and, accordingly, unnecessary expenses.

❗ And now I understand for sure what to build without a project - it is not saving. Ie 30-50 TR, which I would have spent on calculations, I have already more than spent, on most likely unnecessary construction solutions.

But at the same time, for me there are things that no project documentation can give you.

Everything is the way you want.

Probably everyone who has decided to build a house dreams that everything would be "to your liking". But it doesn't always work out that way.

The price of 30-50 tr, which I have already mentioned, is adequate for an already finished project of a one-story house, which, maybe a little, will adjust for you.

Normal project, for all your requirements, this is a serious job. And the payment for it is already within hundreds of thousands of rubles. Only then can you get what you want.

Simple house construction.

Several floors, large spans, non-standard shapes - all this certainly requires a project. But personally, I don't need it.

Straight walls and 90 degree corners, one floor and attic, gable roof. Everything is simple in my house.

There are no complex elements that require some kind of calculation. All solutions are simple and widely available.

There are no guarantees, in any case!

In my opinion, the main misconception is to hope that the project will solve all your problems.

No project is immune from errors in it. And their number does not always depend on the money you paid.

And if we add to this, so to speak, non-professional builders, some of whom cannot even read the drawing, then the final result of construction is not predictable at all.

✅ Also building without a project, I understand that some problems can come out later. But, at the same time, I know for sure that I can find a solution for them(since you had enough brains to build a house).

So friends, when making a choice, look at all the pros and cons, in your situation. But the main thing - do not be afraid, the decision made.

Maybe it seemed to me that way, but ordinary polystyrene is not in great demand these days. And i...
