I did without tamping, but got a solid base under the blind area. How did I make my job easier?
When you build a house with your own hands, you try to optimize construction processes as much as possible in order to waste less time and get tired. It doesn't work out right away, but it gets better with experience.
I don't have that much construction experience. So far I have reached the box at home, but even now, I already look at everything differently.
And a lot, you already start thinking ahead.
At the beginning of the last construction season, when I began to lay the first blocks, erecting the walls of my house, I immediately thought about the blind area, which is necessary for my shallow foundation. But I did not want to focus on this at that moment.
❗Therefore, I decided everything stretch for a while, but at the same time, make little effort.
1. Sand laying.
Precisely styling, I did not do any ramming.(only slightly hand-tamped to level the surface). And all because I knew that I would not return to work again soon.
And during all this time, nature will do all the work for me.
Rain and walking on the ground is an easy and free way to tamp. The only thing takes a long time.
2. Final alignment.
When the box of the house and the roof were already ready, it was possible to do the blind area.
✅ The sand, which I laid at the beginning of summer, had already compacted thoroughly, but the surface was not even and there was a lot of construction waste.
- I decided to just fill in a small layer of sand, which will hide everything.
- Then walk, lightly, with a manual rammer.
- And align everything with the rule.
It seems to me that with a well-compacted base, this is quite acceptable. And it will not lead to any big failures of the blind area.
But, in further work with the blind area, I still stopped... (Why? Can you read here).
At this point, there is a lot of work to be done now. subscribe to the channel and like it 👍.
