House without a drain. Will water destroy the blind area, or is there a way out?
I will never dare to call the gutter system an unnecessary thing, but in my house I decided to do without it.
And this is not a whim, or a desire to do everything against the system. I just want to understand if it is necessary in my house.
Blockages in the system (house in the forest), problems with snow melting, icing of gutters, structural reliability. All this, for me, is obvious reasons, DO NOT install a drain.
And what would be bad without her ???
❗ For real reasons, I only see one.
Even drop by drop, water erodes and erodes the base.
Now this is happening in my house under construction.
But even here I don't see a big problem.
- First, the sand cushion and drainage around the house protects against water accumulation at the base. That in turn will not allow the soil to wash out, and this is the main thing.
- And secondly, a blind area will be installed, which will divert all rainwater away from the foundation.
But here, there is one but ...
"Water wears away the stone."
And even the concrete blind area is no exception. But there is one way out
✅Crushed stone pavement ...
I had never heard of that before, and came across it by accident.
- Drainage function will perform a hidden blind area. This is the waterproofing layer underneath. That is, the main thing is that water will not get under the house.
- From destruction, the surface will protect the rubble. If the concrete surface can lose its appearance from the constant dripping of rain from the roof, then a layer of rubble will transfer it. And not because it does not collapse, but because it is not noticeable on the rubble layer.
So, I'm still leaning towards this option.
And they still speak for himease of arrangement, and appearance(at least for my taste, more interesting than "concrete slab").
