Either the formwork is weak, or the hands are in the wrong place. How I poured my concrete septic tank, and saved everything from destruction.

None of the concrete work on my construction site was without surprises. And I already thought that I had some experience to avoid making more mistakes, but no.

The time has come for the most crucial moment - concrete pouring.

In total, I needed to pour about two cubes of concrete, and I thought that I could easily cope with this task in half a day.

Everything was at hand: sand, rubble, water poured... Just throw it into the concrete mixer.

And it all started out great, but then there were problems ...

❗ Poorly reinforced formwork.

In previous articles, I have already written that a high formwork cannot be expanded so that it retains its original geometry. Only screeds will help.

And here I went further, and just forgot to fix the corners... 🤦‍♂️

And at one point, while the concrete was vibrating, it just flowed out of the cracks. And it was necessary to urgently strengthen and level the corners.

And crushing concrete back is not an easy task... But somehow I dealt with it.

But further, it did not get better.

When the concrete was already poured to a height of about half a meter, the formwork began to "inflate like a ball". And no attempts to prop something up helped.

And the further it went, the more terrible it became.

Especially everything manifested itself during the vibration of concrete. And immediately it was felt how the tension on the formwork was growing.

So I didn’t risk it and rescheduled work the next day.

And when the concrete was already up, I calmly completed all the work.

The curved walls show how the concrete "struggled with the formwork". Yes, albeit crookedly and obliquely, but the walls were flooded, and this is the main thing. And beauty is not needed underground.
