Strawberries and garlic - the myth of a good neighborhood
I learned that strawberries and garlic are not good neighbors at all from an article by an agronomist I advise you to read. I will not repeat myself. The bottom line is that strawberries and garlic have the same diseases and pests. And garlic does not bring any benefit to strawberries.
I'll tell you about my experience. Last year, I grew garlic from bulbs, wrote about it here I sowed with a large distance between the bulbs, so that it grew.
It turned out that there was nowhere to plant strawberries (strawberries). And she decided that garlic, as a gentleman, had nothing to occupy a whole piece of the garden. Let more than one grow. Then I thought it was a useful neighborhood.
I would have dug it out, but it went deep, I found only 7 things. The result is a garden bed with two crops: garlic and strawberries. I will never do that again.
- These crops have different irrigation regimes
- Digging up garlic is extremely inconvenient.
- Strawberries are no better or worse than without garlic
- And most importantly, the garlic turned out to be small
In the middle there is garlic from the main garden, and on the sides with strawberry, compare the size.
Naturally, I will take planting material from a large garlic.
The strawberry-garlic bed was fertilized.
What do you think about joint planting of garlic and strawberries (strawberries)?
I would be grateful for your subscription and communication :)
