I am making a ground loop in my house. There are several important points on which the reliability and efficiency of the system depends.
Sticking a few pins into the ground and throwing a wire - this is how the ground loop seemed to me before. But in fact, here too, there were little things.
The simplest, and already familiar thing, for me, as a self-builder, was to dig a pit for grounding.
The depth went out about half a meter, just at the same level as the top water began to ooze. There is simply no point in digging below.
As the main ground rods, I used corner 50 to 50.
It is important to determine the depth here.
โ And it all depends on the soil and the water table: the higher the better. In my case, the water is almost at the surface, and two-meter corners will be enough.
Remembering how I drove 8 meters of the 42nd pipe into the ground (when tried to make an abyssinian well on the site), it seemed to me that a pointed corner 2 meters long would go into the ground like clockwork ...
But in reality I had to try very hard. And yet it was not possible to drive all two meters, because the corner simply bent from the sledgehammer, and it was impossible to beat.
So somewhere in the 20 - 30 centimeters minus.
Then went extreme - welding in water ...
Certainly not under water, but sitting in a "puddle" with wires around your neck is also not entirely comfortable.
I made horizontal ground electrodes from the same 50th corner.
Scrap metal came in handy too.
The grounding outlet to the top, I welded from pieces and scraps.
Beauty is not needed underground, the main thing is functionality.
And here the final touch is required.
Waterproofing !!!
At first Is a "prefabricated" grounding outlet to the outside. I coated it entirely with bitumen mastic.
And secondly, the ground loop itself. But here, I have protected only the weakest points - these are the welds.
In no case should the entire circuit be isolated, otherwise it simply will not work.
As a result, only a piece of a corner to which you need to connect the grounding of the house reminds of the fact that something was being done here.
For the rest, and not to see all my works... Even a little offensive๐
But nothing, there are still many things to do that you can enjoy โ.
