A friend showed how roads are made in the USA

Recently we met with a classmate who moved to the states for a long time. We talked about the past, and I don’t remember how, but came to the topic of construction in the United States. A friend showed interesting photos of how a road was being built near his house.

I want to share these photos with you and attach some comments from the original source.

1) Roads for cars and for pedestrians are made with a difference of one year: first automobile, then pedestrian.

3) Each piece of land has its own purpose.

If, according to the plan, a thuja should be planted near the path, then a square of empty land without concrete of a strictly designated size is left for it. Approximately 40 * 40 cm. If the tree is larger, the square is increased.

4) The paths are made of concrete and covered with water repellents.

Many years of experience have shown that vintage concrete is cheaper and at the same time more reliable than asphalt. Moreover, if you cover it with a water repellent. Asphalt requires an expensive gravel bedding, and concrete is easier to manufacture and lasts longer.

5) The tracks must have a "pattern"

The building regulations establish up to 40 variants of footpath patterns. Flat concrete slabs spoil the appearance of the city, so stripes are made on the paths. And rainwater flows down them into the mulch or lawn. And the concrete doesn't deteriorate. Very practical.
