How I made an epoxy lamp
There are people whose hands grow out of the right place, and there are all the other 99% of people who get something beautiful and functional only after a few attempts. Apparently, I belong precisely to the latter.
Somehow in winter, when there was nothing to do with the garden except for clearing it of snow, the idea was fired up - to make a lamp with an epoxy resin body. Something like this:
Since heat-resistant epoxy is very expensive, and I took a simpler, artistic one, slightly reworked the lighting scheme - I decided to leave a cavity inside. It was in it that a light bulb would be turned and there was a basement there.
The result is the following:
Errors made:
- Epoxy ran out abruptly, did not calculate the quantity;
- The pigment that was sold as blue, in fact, turned out to be purple;
- The most serious mistake - it was impossible to make a frame for pouring from the remains of polycarbonate with honeycombs inside - not only did a bunch of resin spill out (maybe that's why it wasn't enough). So also the polycarbonate ribs migrated to the surface of the lamp (visible on the left).
- And finally, the main thing - in the center of the structure to create the cavity, I installed an empty plastic jar from ear sticks. But I did not take into account that the can has a lower protruding edge, which firmly adhered to the resin, and it took about two hours to tear it off, at least.
And what I liked was the patterns inside the resin.
In some places it turned out very interesting:
Total:
Spent about 700 rubles and 3-4 hours of free time;
Purchased:
1) a portion of experience;
2) temporary reluctance to return to epoxy crafts 😦
