They told me that a basement on high groundwater is a constant problem, but I did not believe it. And now I continue to believe in it, but so far the problems do not go away.

Once the basement in my house under construction was filled with water by half a meter ...

And then I dealt with this problem by eliminating all leaks (how it was read here).

On this I calmed down, leaving the further improvement of this room for later ...

But it turned out that the threat could come not only from the ground, but also from the air.

✅ It would seem that ventilation is always a guarantee of a dry room!

❗ But improper ventilation is only a problem.

Having opened the entrance to the basement, and all the vents, I provided access to "fresh air" and calmly went about the rest of the construction of the house. But I left out one thing.

Warm and humid summer air, together with a cold basement, end up giving an unpleasant result.

Condensation began to form on the cold surface, which accumulated there all summer.

At first, small spots, and then whole puddles, which eventually made the room in a bad state for me, and ideal for mold and mildew.

But how is that? After all, there should be ventilation.

Yes it should, but not the same as mine.

• When there is a chaotic and slow air movement, then the condensate has time to fall out. As it was with me - "10 inputs and outputs".
• And if the flow is fast and directed - one exit, one entrance, then it is drying.

Maybe it's too simple, and somehow stupid sounds, but at my amateur level, as I understand it 😎. Although practice will explain everything best.
