What is a smart threshold and why is it needed?
Recently I surfed on Avito in search of a facade mesh and came across an advertisement for a "smart threshold". At first I flipped past, thinking that this was just another enticement, but the very name "smart threshold" hooked me so much that I still decided to go back and click on it.
Initially, I was sure that the threshold certainly cannot be made "smart". If you "cut" the LED backlight into the threshold, it will definitely not become smarter. But the point is different.
Smart threshold is a clever sealing system that is mounted on the lower part of the interior door. When you close the interior door, the smart threshold also descends to the floor level.
This is done in order to prevent the movement of cold air (and we know that the temperature at the floor is 2-3 degrees lower) from room to room. In the people - relieves of drafts.
The smart threshold looks like this:
A very well thought-out system, in my opinion. The main thing is that, firstly, the threshold should really go down, and secondly, it should rise steadily when the doors are opened.
The price of a breakdown is a damaged floor covering. God bless him with the carpet, but plastic and rubber can "ride" on the parquet, leaving an unpleasant trace.
Yandex issues the following prices and performance characteristics of smart thresholds:
Since I live in a log house, such thresholds will not be useful to me - the lower crown is already raised and separates different rooms from each other. But for residents of more modern houses and apartments, the threshold can defeat eternal drafts.

And to be honest, write who tried to set such thresholds. It is interesting to learn everything firsthand!
