A sealant that allows steam to pass through, what is it? I use unusual protection for polyurethane foam in my windows.
Nowadays, it is very easy to get confused among the many construction technologies. And you may never know about some of them. Here is one more, for me, discovery about which I have not heard.
Friends, hello everyone β. It has been several months since I finished installing the windows with my cookies.
How it was, read the articles on my channel.
And all this time I did not return to them.
But how long can you watch the foam break down?
Of course, in such a short time, nothing terrible will happen to her (some have windows like this for years). Only it won't get any better.
The challenge for the moment - it's easy to hide the foam from UV rays and rain. But at the same time, it is necessary for the coating to withstand the atmospheric effects, and, if possible, please the eye (until the exterior finish appears).
Of course, you can cover up with plaster or just some kind of solution, or you can just pin the boards... There are a lot of options π.
But I wanted to do it more or less with a professional approach.
Usually when installing windows (as now everyone likes to say "according to GOST"), special tapes are used, on the inside and outside of the seam. And maybe I would have used this particular technology, but it was in my case that I had doubts.
This waterproofing tape, which is glued from the street side, is essentially a membrane (it releases steam, does not let water in). Well, exactly the same as I laid on my roof. And such materials have a minus - this is short time of resistance to UV rays. It must be mounted and immediately closed with a facade.
In my case, the exterior finish does not smell yet... So I decided to use a different technology and bought these two buckets.
This is not paint or glue, but a special sealant. In one bucket, waterproofing, which does not allow moisture or steam into the foam (it is applied indoors. And in the other, a sealant that will protect against rain and ultraviolet radiation, and will release steam (we apply it outside the house).
Moreover, if you count on the money, it turns out like those very special tapes.
So far I have managed to apply the outer layer of protection, and I really like the result.
As for the durability and declared properties, you cannot tell the first time, in a year we will draw conclusions ...
But so far, even outwardly, the house has become more beautiful. And the windows look better to rub.
And about how I applied this sealant and what nuances I encountered, read in the following articles.
