The next use of a solution with "liquid glass". I make minimal protection for the basement insulation.
Insulating a foundation is one thing. And now all this needs to be preserved. After all, the finish is not yet soon ...
After arranging the insulated blind area, I felt calmer for my house.
Read more about all stages at my channel.
But some details haunted me.
- What will become of EPS, from constant exposure to the sun? Exterior finishing is not yet planned, so this is important.
If the foam from UV is destroyed, then the expanded polystyrene, too, does not look good from it? And having studied the information on this topic, I realized that I have a couple of years in stock.
On various forums, people write that the insulation fades to a maximum in a year, and that's it. I don't know if this is true, write in the comments. Your experience will be helpful.
- This is the only step.
β If the rain constantly pours in here, and the snow accumulates, and then melts, then constant wetting of the blocks in this place cannot be avoided.
So you need to do the minimum protection.
For this, I decided to use the simplest cement mortar, but add water glass to it.
- This will make the mortar more durable and prevent moisture from absorbing much.
- I applied everything with a narrow spatula, making a slight slope from the wall for better water drainage.
It all took three and a half buckets of solution, and one weekend.
Honestlythat this is not ideal. After drying, cracks appeared in some places, but in this case it does not matter. I did not plan to achieve tightness.
But it seems to me that it is fashionable to leave the insulation for a long time even in this form.
