I planted the wrong marigolds in the garden
She treated the marigolds loving and not loving. Recently I have not planted in the garden, and now I want to give them a place even in the greenhouse. Why? All because of one story of an inveterate summer resident.
What did I dislike about marigolds (tagetes, black shaves)
- The ground after them is hard (soft, for example, after a bow).
- Often they turn out to be ugly due to pollination, you grow and grow, but he is not as beautiful as intended.
- Our pests paid no attention to them. Although there were many marigolds.
For these reasons, they have remained with us only in flower beds, pedigree. Unpretentious, bloom all summer and part of autumn. Beautiful.
And yet it was embarrassing why the marigolds did not help us in the garden, but write that they scare away the Colorado potato beetle, wireworm, bear, aphids, onion fly, cabbage whitewash, weevils?
Finally, I found out why! We planted the "wrong" marigolds.
Why do you need marigolds in a greenhouse
- Tell me why marigolds occupy a precious place in your greenhouse? So much! After all, they take food from the earth.
- Do you know what a nematode is?
- Alas, yes! The smallest worms, parasites. It is very difficult to get rid of them.
- These are my marigolds, they are called rejected, do not allow the nematode to develop. Their root secretions destroy it. And at the same time worms.
- Class! Rejected, sprawling, that is?
- Yes, erect ones are not suitable for this purpose. And you need to plant quite densely for several years for a good effect to be.
Yes, I'm good, I planted the wrong marigolds and in the first year I wanted a noticeable effect. Maybe this, of course, is a myth about marigolds from nematodes, but you need to check it, it won't get any worse.
- Marigolds are a medicine not only for the earth, and for people, - he picked a flower, put it in his mouth and chews.
I didn't think it was possible just like this... And he continues:
- Every day I come to my marigolds and eat two flowers, and the rest at the peak of maturity I pluck everything and dry it naturally. Good tea is obtained for the winter. For its usefulness as calendula, only tastier and more pleasant smell. Look at my bushes, how beautiful they are, how profusely they bloom. And if I had not plucked flowers from them, they would have dried up long ago.
But he is right. Marigolds are moving away from someone, from someone they are completely gone, all the food has gone into seeds. And he was planted like yesterday. Both leaves and stems are a green scent. No wonder they say, live and learn.
I tried the flower, I didn't like it! It turned out that I had not learned everything yet.
- To overcome dislike, you need to be very, very hungry. Then eat the first young flower. They contain less essential oils. And if he eats with appetite, then even the smell of a pounded leaf will cause appetite. However, this is important for men's health, you may not appreciate eating two flowers a day. Drink seagulls. This marigold is dark-colored, they are more useful.
I read later, to me to strengthen vision, 3 flowers should be eaten a day, for a month! Yes, it's a pity that autumn has come, and summer will have to wait. But I will have time to prepare the seeds. And the first flower, on an empty stomach, will have to be eaten, otherwise it will not be assimilated.
- Have you ever seen a Georgian with glasses?
- No…
- And the reason is that they use Imeretian saffron as a spice. These are marigold petals, also not any. You can find it on the Internet.
- Definitely!Do you need to brew tea from freshly picked or dry marigolds?
- Of any.
After such a rich lesson, I began to search for information on the Internet. Everything was confirmed. Do not think that we ourselves will find on the Internet. Too much indigestible information. I will write briefly the most important thing. I was looking for myself.
What I learned new
- One deflected marigold protects the soil within a 50 cm radius. The packaging should say: "rejected marigolds"
- They not only scare away insects and "displace" nematodes, but also prevent fungal diseases from developing, in particular, fusarium (very important for us!), Gray rot, and late blight
- In the fall, marigolds are advised to bury it in the ground or chop it and scatter it around the garden
What ailments help marigolds
- For diseases of the pancreas
- Have a positive effect on the nervous system (mild sedative)
- As a diuretic
- For cramps
- From worms
- From high blood pressure
- In the early stages of arthritis and diabetes
- Improves vision
- Prevents the appearance of prostate adenoma
- For colds and inflammation
- And even with a number of diseases.
Just take into account that due to the large amount of essential oils, allergies to marigolds and individual intolerance are possible.
Their composition: a large amount of valuable essential oil, vitamins (C, A, E, rutin and folic acid), and also potassium, phosphorus, copper, selenium, iron and zinc, organic acids, alkaloids, flavonoids and phytoncides
Specifically for improving vision, in addition to vitamin A: lutein and zeaxanthin.
Take with caution in children.
About Imeretian saffron
If you add ordinary marigold petals to the dish, you will not notice any difference, except for a change in the color of the dish. But if you plant the correct variety (rejected wild-growing small-flowered), and collect flowers at the end of the season, you get the same taste.
Honey with a bitter taste with a strong floral-fruity aroma and a spicy aftertaste.
Seeds with a simplified name are on sale: Imeretian saffron. There is another completely saffron, not marigolds, it is much more expensive.
This is how marigolds opened for me from unexpected sides.
Hope the information was helpful.
