Why are lifting gates always better than swing gates?
This year I put up a part of the fence on the side of the road and got close to the gate. And then I fell into thoughts of what to choose: fashionable retractable, reliable swing doors, or "get worn out" and make lifting ones?
In this article I will tell you why I chose the last, lifting gates.
In the meantime, I suggest watching a short video that inspired me to this engineering project:
So, you waited for the end of the advertisement and marveled at this gate. I think they made a strong impression on you, just like on me.
Why will I do just such a construction:
- none of the neighbors in gardening has such a gate - this is important for strengthening our authority among my viewers.
- the design is quite simple - its basis - two thick-walled supporting profile pipes 60 * 60 mm, concreted by my clever technology. Next, you need a light welded structure of the sash itself, guides and rubber rollers.
- the gate is maintainable - the design is as simple as a Kalashnikov assault rifle and for me, as a skilled welder, it will not be difficult for me to repair it even if something goes wrong.
Moreover, if I put a swing gate, then I have to make a huge gap under them, because the alley is under a strong slope, and the low doors simply will not open.
Actually, the slope of the road is visible in the photo:
And if I make a sliding gate, I will spend a lot on the gear mechanism and all winter I will blow snowflakes from it so that it does not freeze and the lubricant does not freeze. In general, I don't need hemorrhoids.
A friend shared his bitter experience of a beautiful sliding gate, I don't want to repeat his mistakes.
In general, the decision was made, the material was purchased, but as always the weather failed - it is too late to pour concrete even with an anti-freeze additive. I will postpone the construction until next year.
At the same time, I will listen to your advice in the comments: maybe someone also has lifting gates and still have disadvantages.
By the way, this is how the lifting gates look in finished form (you saw the same frame in the video above):
