Why are the houses of the Russian North standing for 200-300 years without decay?
Many modern building technologies and materials (such as aerated concrete or glued beams) came to us from the West, and we blindly believe in them, relying on the experience of foreign engineers. However, our ancestors have a lot to learn!
What are at least the traditions of wooden housing construction? In the Russian North, in the villages, there are still many houses that are more than a hundred years old, and you look - the lower crowns have not rotted, you go to the fence - they are intact, although they are dug into the ground.
Let this article be an extract from many years of experience in wooden housing construction.
And the video below will tell you three subtleties of wood processing that helped the ancestors to build forever:
In the video, I have reflected three important points: the tricky installation, the firing and the subsequent processing of the butt.
But I forgot to mention an important detail - you also need to cut down a tree at a strictly defined moment. For example, if you cut down a tree when the moon is rising (when there is active sap flow in the trunk), the tree will retain a breeding ground for all kinds of parasites. Barrel life will be reduced by a third, no less!
It's another matter if the tree was cut down in the last 3 days before the end of the waning moon. In this case, the trunk remains empty in terms of a favorable environment for beetles and bark beetles.
This is how the interconnection of builders with nature, guesswork, ingenuity and banal observation helped build houses that have stood for centuries and will stand the same with proper care.
P.S.: thanks for reading to the end and watching the video.
I read all the comments and do not leave them unanswered.
I would be glad to objectively evaluate my video and article.
