Probably, many self-builders have a mania to do everything with a margin, just in case. I am no exception, although this was not the only thing that played a role here.

Friends, work continues on my interfloor, and along with this, many new questions arise.

In general, it is not news to me that even in our time there are many controversial issues in construction, where all professionals and amateurs are divided into two camps, and each one promotes his own theory.

So with the vapor barrier, the same story came out.

I reviewed a bunch of information, and I still do not understand who is right ...

Do I need to do a vapor barrier interfloor overlap or not?

In such incomprehensible situations, I have to rely only on myself, and I made my choice.

Vapor barrier to be!

And that's why I decided to make it:

1️⃣ Excessive moisture. Of course, condensation will not form in the interfloor floor, since the temperature is the same from below and from above. But no one has canceled the excess moisture from our life.

Bathroom and toilet, kitchen - these are the wettest rooms, and all this "water" gets not only into ventilation, but also into building structures. And whether this will be a lot or a little is not known for the destructive effect.

For me, it's better to play it safe.

2️⃣ Scattering of insulation. Of course it will not fall on your head, but nobody canceled its "dusting". As the top of the insulation is covered with a membrane, for waterproofing and protection against "volatility", and below you need to create a barrier. So let it be a vapor barrier.

3️⃣ Anyway, just in case. In terms of building a house, work on the vapor barrier of the floor takes very little cost, both financial and physical. So why ignore it ???
