Three ways to use the welding machine, which only a select few guessed
Recently, I often communicate with welders, and it turns out that even among professionals, few people know two interesting facts.
- that welding was invented in Russia at the beginning of the 19th century (see video above);
- that in addition to its direct purpose, the inverter welding machine has 4 more cool functions.
It's even surprising that welders know so little about the tool that gives them bread for life. Well, I will share what I saw on the Internet and with you:
1. Welding for thawing frozen pipes
It happened that the customer skimped on porileks (insulation) for pipes, and made the distribution of steel pipes around the house in an open form. And somewhere (often in the basement area) - freezing of the earth or cold bridges, and the pipes freeze.
In this case, we take a welding inverter (the cheaper, the better, I will explain below), find the place where the pipe freezes and install both terminals of the welder to the right and left of this node.
We turn on the device for 20-25 seconds, then turn it off for 4-5 minutes. After 2-3 repetitions, water will flow from the pipe: it's done!
For this purpose it is better to use a cheap welder (like Resanty), because the automation of the "smart" inverter will shut down the system in a second if there is a short circuit on the pipe.
2. Smooth cutting of foam or polycarbonate
PolyKRABonat, plastic and foam can be easily cut by welding, attaching a special homemade product to it, as you see in the photo. You need a flat surface, vertical threaded studs and Soviet nichrome wire (like in an iron).
Be sure to insulate the ends of the pins with electrical tape or heat shrink, close the current to a nichrome wire, and lead a piece of foam along the tabletop. In the bag.
And on the Internet, such a device costs as much as 11 thousand rubles!
3. Soldering wire twists
Twisting is far from the most reliable way to connect two wires, but there are situations when you can't get away from it. To make the connection more reliable, you can replace a conventional electrode with a carbon one, and weld a twist of copper wires together.
The fourth purpose of the welder is to start powerful electric motors. But here a deeper study of the topic is already required than I can reveal in this article.
