Make caulking of your wooden house yourself. Continuation
Over the summer I saw (so lucky) FIVE teams and foremen who tried to caulk a neighbor's bathhouse (two teams knocked and drank, but all the "masters" safely disappeared in the morning). I also observed three brigades from Tambov, Belorussia and Tver, which undertook to caulk 3 new two-story wooden houses from cylindrical cylinders in the neighborhood. Grief "masters" knocked a couple of hours a day, all the rest of the time "preparing" for work. In short, the caulking method is the same for everyone - push tow (moss, etc.), knock (mallet and chisel) and then, as it turns out. By the way, the price is from 90 rubles to 120 rubles per linear meter. And the work plan was at least 30 running meters per day. An ordinary house is about 1000 running meters. Those. at this speed, you can work for a month.
But I chose a modern method, which I will tell you about.
The first thing I gave up was the old methods of caulking. No moss and tow, no mallets and manual tools. Maybe this was relevant at the dawn of the 19th century, but today such a house with protruding tows from cracks and uneven caulking grooves looks at least funny, to say the least, because any similar caulk requires further finishing with jute or something more. Again money, again time.
I loved the ad for a modern sealant. I saw her by chance a couple of years ago, and on a foreign site. The advertisement showed material that was used to "plug" the cracks. The sealant solidified after a couple of days, turned into something like rubber and saved the house from penetration of small "Animals", and most importantly, the sealant served as an excellent remedy against external factors affecting the tree - rain and wind. Expensive way came out. Approximately 35 rubles per linear meter, the cost of the material, i.e. only sealant. But the idea itself, i.e. the rejection of traditional caulking materials, I liked it. This means you don't have to bang on the house from morning to evening for three to four weeks (such terms were voiced to me by those teams with whom I consulted when they were still in favor in our village).
Taking into account the cost of the sealant, the relative simplicity of caulking, the quality of the goal achieved and the time it takes to to dig the whole house, I settled on the modern method - i.e. use sealant for wood surfaces and finishes at home with jute.
While I was aiming to start the implementation of the project "caulking a wooden house with my own hands", there were analogues of foreign sealant in our country. Moreover, there is a lot of sealant for wooden products, and the right choice for caulking a wooden house is acrylic sealants, of which there are many.
After the work done, I can say two numbers. The cost of caulking with a sealant is: in the first way (about it a little lower) 24 rubles a running meter; the second way (main) up to 12 rubles running meter.
So, before you start caulking a bath, i.e. main house size 10X11, I decided to try, those. test your capabilities and caulk your log structure - a guest room in a gazebo. The room also turned out to be not small, and was 3 + 6 meters and all 4 sides, including 11 corners. There are 14 crowns in total.
How I built the gazebo, including the project and drawings. (in great detail and with photos)
I accidentally found a video on the Internet where it was shown how a wooden house is caulked with a modern sealant. I decided to use this video instruction and do everything the same way.
So, the first method is instrumentally cheap, but expensive in terms of materials and time..
In order to dig your house yourself, you will need:
1. Compressor for pneumatic tools. I have Fubag up to 8 bar.
2. Pneumatic gun for FUBAG PG198 / 3 sealant. First I bought Fubag for 1200 rubles.
3. Masking tape (scotch tape). Any width. Price from 65 rubles per roll (approximately 50 running meters).
4. Sealant Eurotech will cost you 1000 rubles for 3 kg. packaging, which is enough with this method of caulking up to 80-90 running meters.
5. Jute 12 mm. The bay is 315 meters. Price 4100 rubles.
6. Pneumatic pistol Bosh 64.
7. Nails for Bosh. Pins 2500 pcs X 4 packs. for nailer GSK 64 (50x2.8x1.45 mm). 4 packs of 920 rubles per pack.
8. JonneswayJAT-501 Pneumatic Sealant Syringe
So, how to caulk a house, method one.
There is a subjectwhat needs to be caulked - a gazebo, a guest room. The guest house has one door and one window. External height - 4 meters on the sides 6 meters. On the short side, 3 meters and a height of 2.8 meters. A log of 20 diameter. Ventsov along the short side 14, along the wide side 20, of which 14 logs are 6 meters long and 5 are short logs, i.e. different lengths from 5.6 meters to 1.5 meters.
During construction, the logs in the gazebo were not lined with linen insulation, because it was not planned to use the premises as an additional guest room, but as a workshop, but... they took the premises away from me and had to start caulking the gazebo, because in the summer it was possible to sleep in the room only in an embrace with mosquitoes, creating in a remote village a magnificent choir of an orchestra of violins and screeching drank.
There is something: compressor, pneumatic gun for sealant, pneumatic gun for sealer, pins, tape, sealant, jute.
There is a need, i.e. there is a weak desire to do it yourself.
We time the time and determine the costs, remembering that I do all this for myself.
It took me 3 kg for one 6 meter wall with a height of 19 logs. sealant. Masking tape went to a long wall including inner corners, 3 masking tapes. Time on the wall - 10 hours without smoke breaks.
Two walls are wide, two are short.
Having no experience, I spent a WEEK working on the gazebo. Material costs were approximately:
Jute - 4 100 rubles,
Pins - 3 680 rubles.
Sealant - 4,000 rubles (about 10 kg.)
Scotch tape - 200 rubles.
Total: 12,000 rubles (excluding the cost of the tool) and a week of work. For a footage of about 300 running meters, including 11 corners, the costs were 40 rubles per running meter, which is very good for an inexperienced caulker.
If I invited specialists, then, including their price, 120 rubles per running meter (the cost of laying jute is considered separately at 30 rubles per meter), then a gazebo room measuring 3X6 meters would cost me in 57,000 rubles.
And since I did everything myself, even overpaying for the material due to inexperience, I easily bounced for 15,000 rubles.
Of course, the cost of the tool is not included in the cost of the finished work, but the tool is not disposable, it will still come in handy.
It takes a lot of time to glue the logs with masking tape.
Also the Fubag pistol suckssince loading with sealant and applying to logs is not an easy task. I can say one thing that at the end of half of the work on the gazebo, I threw out the Fubag gun and bought another Jonnesway JAT-501 sealant syringe, which accelerated the work several times, and you can read about the savings below, where I describe the main method of caulking my main building - a wooden baths.
True, the site experts advised me to use the Airflow 600 sealant gun (self-priming), not to confuse Airflow 3600. But I didn’t use the advice. a syringe for sealants JonneswayJAT-501 was already purchased, and the price the tool that was advised was 9,900 rubles, which was already expensive, in contrast to 2,400 rubles for Jonnesway JAT-501.
The new gun made it possible to apply and hammer sealant into cracks and cracks without pasting the logs with paper tape, which saved not only money, but also an enormous amount of time. The sealant lay flat and, if it was required to hammer in indecent gaps between the logs, he simply stopped the movement of the pistol along the log until the gap was filled. After passing the sealant between the logs, there was no need to spread the sealant between the logs with a rubber staple. The material saving was about 40%. not smeared on the log. Having closed the entire wall with sealant, including the corners, we proceed to nailing the jute.
By the way, the new pistol, unlike the Fubag, was easy to clean. Moreover, if you did not finish the work, the sealant could be left in the gun for a day or two, and when starting to work, simply clean the nozzle with a thin wire.
Advice, if on a gazebo made of rounded logs with a diameter of 20 I used 12 mm jute, which lay harmoniously between logs, then for the main structure, which was assembled from 24 cylinders, jute with a diameter of 14 was laid very logically and beautifully mm.
It is boring to display data on the total costs, I will say that it took less than 3 kg for a wall 6 meters long and 24 crowns in height. sealant, not a meter of masking tape.
Jute 14 mm cost me 3750 rubles (footage less than 240 meters). It is difficult to say how much it took for one 6 meter wall, but this is not a sealant, you will not be able to save money. How much jute it took for the whole house can be said after the caulking work in my house is over.
Drawing a conclusion on how to caulk your house from a rounded log, I can say unequivocally -
First, you need to caulk yourselfsince cheaper and cleaner than someone hired did,
Second, you need to caulk with a modern sealantrather than traditional tow or moss.
