I have not bought plastic ties for a long time, because their analog can be made for free in a couple of minutes!
There are times when in a private house or in the country you need to quickly fix or fix something. In such situations, plastic ties will help out perfectly. They are cheap, durable and very convenient to use, because in order to secure any part, you do not need additional tools.
Despite all the advantages, plastic clamps have two significant drawbacks: they are disposable and are not always at hand. For example, I face the second problem very often and this applies not only to ties, but also to other consumables (wire, electrical tape, etc.). You still need to get to the nearest hardware store, and when shopping, you often forget to buy all the necessary consumables, so in most cases you have to use available tools.
Today I will share with you how you can make reusable plastic ties in just a couple of minutes. This analogue of clamps is in no way inferior in strength to the original and you will not spend a penny on their manufacture.
As a free material, we will use an ordinary plastic bottle that can be found in any home. And first of all, we cut off the middle part from the bottle.
Then we cut the bottle lengthwise (we get a flat plastic sheet) and cut strips 15 - 20 mm wide using a clerical knife or scissors.
Then we heat the knife blade with a lighter or on a burner.
And, stepping back about 4 mm from the edges of the plastic strip, we make three cuts at a distance of 7 - 10 mm from each other.
Then, attaching a ruler to the edges of the slots, cut off the excess parts of the strip on each side (we get a strip slightly less than the length of the holes made).
In the end, everything should look like this.
And now the most important thing, we take the edge of the strip and thread it from below into the first slot, then into the second and it should come out from above in the third hole.
Then, holding on to the wide part, we tighten the tie well, bend it, thread the edge again into the first hole and, if necessary, cut off the excess part so that it does not stick out. Thus, the homemade plastic tie will be securely fixed. For stronger fixation, you can additionally heat the tie with a lighter at the bend, but then it will become disposable.
