Well and storage tanks for water on your site - providing water for irrigation of the garden
When I settled in the village, there was an old, not very deep well on the site, which barely provided water for the house and only a little remained for watering several beds.
There was an acute problem of collecting and storing water for irrigation of the entire garden. All the dances with a tambourine and basins, rusty barrels and so on for collecting rainwater did not triple me. I had a huge plan. In the first years I planted a lot of apple and pear trees, apricots and cherries with cherries, not to mention the obligatory bushes of currants, gooseberries, honeysuckle, etc.
All these plantings, including numerous beds, required regular watering.
I had to make a well. You yourself know what kind of water we have in the Moscow region (rusty), we had to make a well of 40 meters. There is no point in doing 140 meters deep (in my area there is pure water) - such a pleasure comes out to almost a million rubles.
The well cost me about 75,000 rubles with a pump, filters, other required elements and a Kingston made of two concrete rings.
The question arose where to collect water, tk. watering the garden with cold water is not at all reasonable.
The first container was a Eurocube. I didn't use it for long. It is very inconvenient to maintain, it is not handy to wash the container, and additional costs are required to connect the hoses. As a result, the eurocube was removed to the back of the site, where I now store water and water a clearing in my forest so that I can collect mushrooms.
Then we brought a 400 liter trough from some factory from Mytishchi. We have been using this container for over 5 years. I threw a cheap pump into the bath when needed, and the water heats up in the bath quickly enough, I water the plants in the greenhouse and the main beds from this container. Water from a 400 liter bath is enough for a greenhouse 3X6 meters and 12 beds 1X2 meters. 400 liters are completely consumed in one watering.
Of course, this tank did not satisfy all the needs of my garden, there is also a vineyard and trees, bushes and other beds.
I had to go to the next costs.
For a long time, I chose a suitable container, so that the volume was required and the ease of use.
I chose the drive, which we later called the "hippo".
Capacity 1.5 tons of water.
Now I have 100% water supply.
The hippo cost about 12,000 rubles with delivery. Convenient: there is an easy way to connect standard hoses, mechanical shutdown of the water supply when the container is full. The tank itself is light enough to raise it on its own when draining water for the winter in order to drain the remaining water.
I connect a pump to it from a well, the tank picks up water to the edge and locks off the water supply, and the pump turns off automatically. Very comfortably. From the tank, another pump draws water that goes for irrigation.
For the winter, of course, everything (pump, hoses) has to be disconnected and put into a warm house, but it doesn’t make it difficult for me to do this every autumn.
