On the farm, during construction work or just in life situations, there are often cases when it is necessary to tie two ropes together with a reliable knot. therefore every man should know how to knit strong knots, because this skill can help out in difficult times!

In this article, I will show you 3 simple but reliable knots with which you can quickly tie two ropes together.

1. "Oak" knot

I usually use this knot on the farm when you need to lengthen the rope. It is the easiest and fastest to knit. However, despite its simplicity, the "Oak" knot is actively used by climbers!

To tie two ropes with this knot, you need to fold their ends together.

And then tie the most common knot.

For more demanding work (with a heavy load), it is necessary to leave longer ends (20 - 30 cm).

2. Counter Eight Knot

The next knot is considered more durable and it is done very simply. The "counter eight" can be used, for example, during construction work or on hikes, because with the help of this knot, you can not only tie two ropes, but also securely fix the rope on any subject. This knot is also used in mountain climbing and is popular with fishermen.

In order to tie the ropes with an oncoming knot, first of all, you need to not completely tie the usual knot (figure eight) on the first rope, leaving a small end.

Then we pass the end of the second rope into the formed loop and pull it out a little.

Then with the second (white) rope we completely repeat the knot pattern of the first (green) rope (as if to meet her) and bring its end into the opposite loop.

Under load, such a knot is very tight and very difficult to untie.

3. Grapevine Node

And finally, one of the safest and most durable knots that can withstand very heavy loads! At first glance, it may seem that tying such a knot is difficult, but believe me, after two minutes of training, you will cope with this task without any problems. I don't use it often, but when my tow rope broke, I used this particular knot.

We fold the ropes together towards each other and wind one end under them.

Then we make two turns with the first rope (white) around the second (green) rope towards ourselves, we put its end into the formed double loop and tighten the knot.

Then pull the end of the second (green) rope a little and knit a similar knot.

Grapevine Knot

At the end, we pull the resulting knots together by pulling the ropes in different directions. This knot is very tight under load and it is almost impossible to untie it! If it's not very clear how to tie the Grapevine knot, here's a good example of how to do it.
