Everyone knows that over time, silver items begin to darken, losing their luster and attractiveness. Silver jewelry that we wear on ourselves darkens most quickly. The appearance of blackness on them has nothing to do with any diseases in humans, as some think. The thing is that there is a sulfur compound (sulfur dioxide) in the air and in our body, which reacts with silver. On jewelry, these properties appear faster, since sulfur is released along with the sweat that our body produces. Therefore, sooner or later, each of us is faced with this problem.

You can easily clean silver from blackness yourself and, as it turned out, there are many ways for this. But which one is the most effective? For example, I used to do this with regular tooth powder, which is sold in any pharmacy.

He took an old toothbrush, moistened it with water and, taking some tooth powder, diligently rubbed the silver product.

The method is effective, but it takes a lot of time and is not very suitable for small jewelry (chains, earrings and so on).

I also tried soaking silver items in a solution of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide. Silver is cleared of blackness almost instantly, while a violent reaction occurs and the solution becomes brown. However, after cleaning in this way, a small white coating may appear on the products., which will have to be additionally scrubbed. Therefore, I abandoned this method immediately.

And recently I found out another very effective way that I liked the most.. To be honest, I could not even think that cleaning silver from blackness could be so quick and easy!

We take regular food foil and wrap some deep plate in it.

Then we put in it all the silver jewelry that needs to be cleaned.

Now we need baking soda (I think every home has it).

We fall asleep with soda silver products and pour boiling water over everything. A reaction will begin immediately and a specific smell may appear in the water.

We wait literally a couple of minutes, take out the jewelry and rinse them with water. That's all, the effect is simply amazing, the silver items will shine again and become as good as new!
