Two router attachments for atypical tasks
The usual operations on a milling table are stop and bearing milling.
And if you use simple devices, then with the help of a milling cutter, you can perform turning work or milling complex contours from a template.
Turning works. I had a chance to test this method in practice: it was necessary to make a chiseled support for the table, but there was no lathe.
Using a fairly simple device and a router installed in the table, I managed to make this support.
In this way, you can make repeatable details because the work is carried out according to a template.
You can read more about how this was done in this publication.
Pattern milling. In principle, this is similar to using a copying sleeve or bearing supported milling, but there are significant differences.
With a simple tool, you can align an edge, select a background, make a milled lettering or pattern.
The basic idea is that the guide support is not associated with the cutter. Therefore, you can specify both the depth of cut and the offset of the cutter relative to the template.
More about the device and its device look here.
By the way, with the help of this device, you can solve the problem that I wrote about in the article Easy replacement for the large bearing for the cutter
