Diy drill or screwdriver attachment - overview
The drill is perhaps one of the most common tools. With its help, you can not only drill holes, but also, having different attachments, cut, grind, clean, mix and even pump liquids.
Therefore, in today's article I would like to tell you about an effective attachment for a drill that you can make yourself.
(How it works, I'll show you at the very end)
So, on the review there is a do-it-yourself drill attachment. The author of this invention is a Turkish video blogger named Gökmen ALTUNTAŞ.
I will make a detailed description of the possibilities of its application, design and appearance, so that you have the most complete picture of this device. But first things first, let's start.
Idea
Rated 2 out of 5
As I said before, the drill is a very common tool. Perhaps this is one of the few devices with which you can bring to life the most daring and large-scale projects.
Need to drill a hole? You are welcome! Need to be cut or sanded, cleaned? In any hardware store, you can easily find special discs, brushes, etc. Doing repairs and need to knead a portion of the solution? Buy a special attachment and quickly and easily cope with the task. And this is only a small part of the tasks that can be solved with a drill.
As for the author's invention, it is almost a complete copy of the simplest stop for drills, with which you can drill holes perpendicular to the surface of the part and under a given angle. In addition, structurally, the do-it-yourself drill attachment is inferior to the factory-made stop, but I will talk about this later. In the meantime, I gave the author only 2 points for the idea.
Design
Rated 3 out of 5
The design of the do-it-yourself stop is almost completely identical to the parallel stop of industrial production. But there are also differences.
Firstly, the base and top plank are made of wood. On the one hand, this makes the structure lighter, on the other hand, it makes it less stable and fragile. Over time, wooden parts can dry out and the tool will become unusable. I think these parts are best made from metal or some other durable material.
Secondly, the author pastes too many details. In my opinion, this is not the best idea, because sooner or later the glue will lose its properties and the details will simply fall out of the holes.
Thirdly, there are no holes at the base for attaching to the table. It would be much more convenient to use this attachment if it were fixedly screwed to the table.
Fourthly, with the help of the presented product, it is not possible to drill holes at an angle not equal to 90 °.
What pleased me was the presence of protective plastic caps at the ends of the metal rods. And at the base and top plank, the corners have been processed to avoid injury.
Summing up all of the above, I want to say that the design of this product requires improvement. Therefore, I put only 3 points.
Design
Rated 5 out of 5
The do-it-yourself drill attachment has an attractive appearance. The corners of the wooden base and the top plank are rounded and the parts have been painted. Therefore, I gave the author 5 points
Analogs
Rated 2 out of 5
An analogue of a do-it-yourself drill bit is a parallel stop, which is sold in many hardware stores. The cost of such an emphasis starts at 650 rubles. In general, this is a little money, so it will not be difficult for you to buy such a device.
For the manufacture of the nozzle, the author used new parts that were bought in the store. Therefore, the manufacture of this tool cannot be called economical. In this regard, on this item, I gave the author 2 points.
Outcome
Rated 12 out of 20
The drill attachment scores 12 points out of 20. I think that the manufacture of this device is not advisable, since it is easier to buy such a nozzle in a store, and in terms of functionality it will surpass the homemade one.
