How to grout tiles without dirt? Cool tips!
The process of grouting tiles is a fairly easy process, in which, at first glance, there is nothing complicated. However, not everyone knows how to get a clean grout that will not fade over time. Here are some of the best tips for making your grout without dirt:
1. First of all, you need to prepare a good rubber trowel, as well as the grout itself, which will ideally match the color of the tile and will have the necessary properties of grouting powders. I do not recommend using a metal trowel, as it can damage the tile surface.
2. When working, the spatula must be absolutely clean. I do not recommend using the same trowel for grouting that was used when applying the tile adhesive. Dust and dirt that is present on the tool can subsequently harden in the grout, creating the illusion of a "dirty" job.
3. Thoroughly rinse all tiles before grouting. Do not start work if there is glue residue on the tile. Small particles of material can interfere with the even distribution of the solution. It can also change the color of the grout, turning it from white to gray.
4. I do not recommend kneading the grout with tools like a drill. Better to mix it by hand. This will create a uniform mass that, after curing, will have a neat appearance.
5. Along the very edge of the tile, you must attach a wide adhesive tape. It is this stage that most of all affects the creation of a grout without dirt. The tape must be attached along one line on both sides of the tile.
6. It is best to work on two or even three tiles at once. This will ensure that your strokes are even and clean. However, it is not worth working with a large number of plates. While you are removing the rest of the mass from the tile, the rest of the grout will have time to grab.
7. It is necessary to press in the grout with a strong pressure along the entire length of the joint. After that, using strong pressure, it is necessary to draw a spatula along the tile. This will remove excess grout and keep the work clean.
8. Do not use grout of different colors, even if slabs of different shades have been laid. In most cases, the joint line will be uneven and the grout itself will look unprofessional.
9. Do not grout for very long. You need to work as quickly as possible so that the grout does not have time to completely seize.
10. Do not swing the spatula when working. This is a very predictable tip, but it is due to excessive movements that dirt gets over the edges of the glued tape;
11. Do not peel off the tape until finished.
12. As soon as the work is finished, gently wipe the tile with a wet sponge. Do not overdo this process, wipe the surface once is enough.
