How to properly prepare a broom for a bath?

Everyone knows the saying “Prepare your sleigh in summer!”. And everyone understands perfectly well that we are talking not only about the sleigh, but about everything else. For example, about brooms for a bath. The end of spring and summer is the best time to start preparing bath brooms. Birch trees can be harvested now! The best time to preserve all the active and beneficial substances!

Today I will tell you about the basic rules for preparing bath brooms, so that you can meet the new bath season fully armed, and so that your brooms are of maximum benefit!

1. It is worth harvesting brooms during the flowering period of the grass stand (except for eucalyptus and oak). Beliefs say that the best time is on the feast of Trinity. You can pick branches until August 2, "Ilyin's Day".

2. For harvesting, you need to choose dry weather. After the rain, you should wait a few days for the foliage to dry, otherwise the leaves will curl or fly around later.

3. Do not collect early in the morning, wait until the dew clears.

4. Do not pick branches near roads and industrial plants.

5. Choose sprigs without resin. The leaves must hold tight.

6. Use pruning shears or garden shears when cutting.

7. Choose thin, flexible twigs close to the ground or young side shoots.

8. Protect the environment! You don't have to cut all the branches in one place. Choose the most suitable twigs on different trees.

9. It is better to transport branches open. Do not wrap them with films, put them in bags and bags. It is enough just to carefully tie it with a rope.

10. Popular wisdom says that as soon as you have brought the branches, you immediately need to untie them and "give them freedom." Personally, I advise you to listen! This will really keep the essential oils better, and the branches themselves will not become loose.

11. Do not leave branches in the sun. They must be placed in a ventilated area where the sun will not have access. They should hang there for about a week. Don't tie them too tightly together. Give the twigs some freedom.

12. Instead of hanging the brooms, you can spread the branches on the floor or flat surface and turn them over daily. This will give your broom a beautiful, regular shape.

13. After wilting, you can start tying the branches. Dried branches should have a matte green color and aroma.

14. Prepare branches of the same size when linking. On average, it is 40-80 cm. - to your taste.

15. Clean the branches where the handle will be. In size - about 15 cm.

16. The assembly of the broom must be done correctly - there should be thicker branches inside, and around thinner and more flexible ones. Try to give the product a fan shape.

17. Wrap the handle with twine, and over it with a cloth.

18. Further drying and storage of brooms should be carried out in the shade, and not in the sun.
