Experience in using water-based varnish for worktops
Basically I prefer to work with water-based varnishes and enamels. Therefore, when I needed to varnish the countertop for my kitchen, I began to look for water-based varnish.
In the supermarket Leroy Merlin I came across such a varnish.
It is a two-component varnish. On top of that jar was a black plastic lid, and underneath was a sachet of additive.
After adding the contents of this bag, the varnish according to the instructions is suitable for use within 10 days.
The varnish itself is quite thick.
The can also says that it is scratch resistant and can withstand temperatures of 100 degrees. The varnish gains the required strength 20 days after application.
For this reason, I made the countertop first, varnished it and set it to wait for installation.
I applied varnish with a brush in three layers. Subsequent coatings were applied every other day. Intermediate sanding was done with a 220 sanding machine.
The third layer was applied in a rather thick layer.
In general, I liked working with this varnish. The result was fine. Time will tell how he will behave in operation.
