A story about a screed made in 1 day. Semi-dry screed

Today I will tell the story of how my brother bought a plot, and how we gradually build his house together in our free time. We are building, of course, not as fast as we would like... But, as they say: if you want to do well, do it yourself.

We set a goal - the brother's family should move into the house before the New Year. It is imperative to connect gas and electricity before the onset of cold weather, otherwise you will definitely not see the move before next spring. And we are already very determined to celebrate the New Year in their new home.

Since we only work together, and not as often as we would like, they decided to entrust the filling of the screed to specialists. There are a lot of advertisements on the Internet now, they have found for us a tempting and promising offer that they will do perfectly flat floor in just a day. The price was attractive, the promises were mesmerizing, although they looked like a deception... but we made up our minds!

I would like to note that we have already once encountered "hack" who took a deposit for work and disappeared in an unknown direction. Therefore, we were cautious in advance and agreed on 100% payment after the end of the work.

The foremen called in the evening and said that they would call in in the morning. I rushed to the site at 9 am and began to wait for them, slowly going about my business in parallel. The guys stayed a little late and arrived at 11 o'clock. I'm already tense. What if Fate takes away ?! They said they had taken the wrong turn on the road and got lost. Well, okay, it happens to everyone. The main thing has arrived.

We looked around, quickly unloaded everything, disassembled and connected the equipment. They decided to start the work the next day in the morning.

The next day, at 8 am, the whole team was already assembled: a foreman and 4 hard workers. And the sand had already been brought by this time. Then some issues were resolved, work began only after a few hours.

The guys kneaded the concrete mix in a special "mixer" - an unknown unit. Two applied this mixture on the walls, and one measured the level. The work was in full swing. The hose supplied the mixture, twisted and wriggled just like "already in a pan", I was even afraid that it would blow everything around.

The mixture looks like "wool sand". It was evenly spread over the floor surface. Then one of the guys took and marked the control places with a spatula according to the level, and then, using a long rule, leveled the surface of the screed, somewhere adding or removing the mixture.

All this looked, of course, downright bewitching. The bags of sand and cement were shrinking before our eyes, the floor in front of us gradually turned into a perfectly flat area.

Then one of the masters put on special shoes - bast shoes, and went to smooth the surface with a special machine. After it, the surface became shiny and even smoother. The work was completed, as promised in 1 day, they washed everything from the remnants of the mixture, loaded it back into their car, took the money and left.

The next morning, we came to check on the new floor. The surface was already hardened and could support the weight of two men even without special shoes. We carefully watered the floor surface as instructed by the craftsmen. Then everything was covered with plastic wrap and left to harden further. There is a sauna in the house! I had to leave quickly. I could not stand such a steam room among a semi-dry concrete screed.

All this happened on the weekend. Only tomorrow will I have the opportunity to evaluate the final result!
