Windproof film on the roof
Greetings.
I live in the private sector and have seen a strange picture for several years now.
The roof is being remodeled on the old house. The entire old structure is demolished, new rafters are installed, then a windproof film is pulled along the rafters, and a crate is made on top and only then a roof.
When I saw this for the first time, I thought: "Oh, something new. But why? "
When I saw such a solution for about the fifth or seventh time, I went to the Internet to see what kind of new technologies it was.
It turned out that a similar technology is used for roof insulation, when the attic is being made. In this case, the presence of a windproof film becomes clear and logical.
But on the roofs that were being remodeled in the area, no attics were made.
And somehow I met a neighbor who has been building for many years, including making roofs.
I ask him:
- Tell me why now the film is laid on the rafters under the crate, because the roofs are ordinary without insulation.
Laughs:
- New fashion. When selling a roof, managers also promote a film..
- But with the film, the work becomes more complicated.
- That's right, that's why we take it more expensive.
Such a conversation happened.
This summer, I saw several roofs being remodeled in the area and only on one, the windproof film was pulled over the rafters before making the crate. The roof was also ordinary, not insulated.
The fashion has passed.
But this roof seems to suggest insulation, but the film was not installed. On the other hand, after all, you can pull it just before insulation.
And what do you think - why is a windproof film needed under the crate on an ordinary non-insulated roof?
