Turned the cable reel into a stylish homemade product! And he made his wife sit down at a round table of negotiations! Since then, my wife does not meddle in my affairs!
Recently my wife's and my interests clashed here. She doesn't want to see “my trash” in the yard. And that's why I acquired a yard, so that useful things, which she calls "trash", were "dragged" into the yard!
It so happened that I got it from friends of electricians a huge wooden reel from the cable. I saw her, and the fantasy began to play with a riot of colors - oh, how many things can be made of her! Of course, they brought her home to me. Do not throw away such good!
I listened to the slightly disgruntled exclamations of my wife, put on headphones and started tinkering.
Developed a homemade design project for a piece of furniture. I prepared the necessary tools and began to translate my idea into reality. I must say right away that at the end of the work, my wife promised to take all my "trash" with open arms... Hmm... Let's check how long it will last!
For now, I'll tell you what and how I did. In the meantime, you will appreciate what I have done! I would be grateful for your comments and support!
1. We take a large unnecessary coil from the cable (GOST 5151-79 "Wooden drums for electrical cables and wires"). The circles on either side of the spool are called "cheeks" and the cylinder in the center is called "neck".
2. Next, you need to separate the cheeks from the neck. That is, the large wooden circles must be disconnected from the coil cylinder. This is very easy to do with the simplest screwdriver.
3. The spool neck is the future leg for our product. It needs to be cut. Make it the size that is most comfortable for you and your family. The neck can be cut with a miter saw (parquet).
4. Working with wood is impossible without sanding! therefore we clean and grind all surfaces cheeks and spool neck using angle grinders with petal attachments and a belt sander.
5. Now let's create a more attractive look for our leg. Otherwise, the appearance of our product is unlikely to be able to conquer and calm down a rebellious woman! The old tree wife will definitely not approve! Will expel from the house "along with his coil."
We mount boards with an end section of 25x100 mm to the cut neck. With self-tapping screws for wood 41 mm. It is better to take boards from conifers. They must be dry and planed. The leg is almost ready.
6. Moving on to the countertop. Now I will surprise you! - The role of the table top will be played by the round side of the coil - one of the cheeks!) We fix it on the prepared leg.
7. After finishing the installation, all internal and external surfaces cover with paint or varnish - to your taste. It is worth using special tinted oils for outdoor woodwork.
8. Now you have to wait! Take your time, let the paint dry well.
9. Now you just need to correctly install our product - the neck is at the bottom, the tabletop is at the top.
It turned out to be a great table! Which, despite all the simplicity of manufacture, looks very stylish in our yard, decorating it with its restraint and brevity! Wicker chairs and outdoor chairs look great next to the table.
I sat my wife down at our new round table of negotiations and took a promise that she would no longer interfere in my affairs!
