A familiar builder advised adding detergent to the cement mortar. I tell you what came of it

Greetings.

Now I am doing repairs in my workshop and started making the floor.

Most of the floor was previously filled with concrete. For 7 years, this filling has shown itself well and has not cracked anywhere.

Until the last moment, I had not yet decided what kind of floor to make, but chance helped here. That is, on the occasion I got used floor tiles with dimensions of 60x60 cm. I decided to lay her on the floor.

The concrete surface turned out to be not entirely flat for laying tiles: pits, bumps up to 1.5 cm. Of course, it was necessary to level and the easiest way - to dilute the cement mortar and level the surface as a rule.

At the beginning of such leveling, a problem was discovered: it turned out to be difficult to stretch the solution in a thin layer over the concrete.

I talked about this problem with a builder I knew and he advised adding a little of any detergent to the solution.

And a miracle happened! The solution began to spread on the floor like butter on bread.

Everything seems to be fine, but immediately noticed one feature of this solution, it turned out to be a little airy, so to speak, foamed.

A second feature I noticed the next day. During the night, ordinary cement mortar already set well and you can safely walk on the floor surface. And this solution with the addition of detergent seemed to grab, but not enough. I could calmly walk on this floor only in the evening of the next day. That is, more than a day after application.

Here is such an experience. In my case, the use of cement mortar with such an additive can be considered acceptable. The layer was applied thin on a proven concrete base, and tiles were glued on top.

That is, this layer of mortar was needed for leveling, so that the tiles were easier to lay and in order to consume less tile glue.

I have doubts about the use of such an additive in other situations, for example, when laying bricks. Of course, I don't have such a task, but if you have experience with a similar solution in other situations, write in the comments. I think this can be useful to many.
