Grandmother gave the task - to repair the door! What to do if the tongue on the door does not go all the way?
At the weekend we stayed with my grandmother outside the city. My grandmother is a man of the old school! She cannot just rest and sit quietly. Despite her age, she is on the move all the time! He plays with his great-grandchildren with one hand, sculpts pies with the other, cleans the kitchen with the third, manages the household with the fourth, and digs in the garden with the fifth... Well, in general, you get the idea!
Of course, we can't sit still next to her! And I don’t want to! Her energy flow is transmitted to us!) We spin, help and do things that the granny cannot cope with on her own!
By the way, she almost never asks for anything! Waiting, probably, that we will offer ourselves)) But this time she asked #a door fix! At last!
The problem turned out to be that in the lock of the interior door the tongue did not retrace to the end when the handle was fully turned. What to do is not clear!
Began to understand!
It was obvious that there were two variants of the problem:
1.Plain. The fastening of the handle itself is loose. The problem is simple and the solution is simple - you need to tighten the handle mount by tightening the latch. It didn't help in our case.
2. Complicated. Spring and pivot problems. Here you need to disassemble the handle and lock. It will take #tool
If it is necessary, then we disassemble!
1. Remove the protective decorative cover (plug). We unscrew the mounting screws.
2. We take out and remove the handles.
3. We unscrew the fastening screws at the end of the lock.
4. We take out the lock mechanism.
After I disassembled the handle and examined the mechanism, I saw the cause of the problem - the wear of the spring mechanism! Unfortunately, there is no cure for this. Replacement required.
We go to the store and buy new #mechanism!
IMPORTANT:There are a lot of similar devices in stores! They differ in the length and dimensions of the seat depending on the type of lock. Therefore, in order not to be mistaken, take the old mechanism with you to the store.
Have chosen! Bought! And then everything is simple! Installing a new mechanism and putting the handles back on the door!
Voila! The door lock works and the tongue goes out completely when the door handle is turned all the way!)
