Are the joints dispersed after wallpapering? 5 effective ways to fix everything!
Pasted the wallpaper back to back! Everything seemed to be clear. But then "op"... the wallpaper parted, but the joints remained! Either not quite accurate joining led to the fact that the seam is conspicuous. What to do?
Unfortunately, this situation is not uncommon for both beginners and more experienced craftsmen. But that's okay! Fortunately, some points in our work can be corrected!) And today I will talk about how you can mask the joints that have arisen from nowhere. I have 5 tips.
In general, wallpapering is a kind of lottery! For everything to work out perfectly, all conditions must be met:
- Correct storage and transportation of wallpaper.
- Technology for preparing walls before wallpapering.
- Exact match of batch number and article number.
- Humidity and air temperature in the room before and during wallpapering. Lack of drafts.
- Observance of the exact time of impregnation of the web of paper wallpaper and paper-based wallpaper.
If you have pasted wallpaper for painting, and the joint is noticeable and striking, do not expect that after painting the joint will not be visible. Even two coats of paint will not fix the situation. Especially if colored rather than white paint is used.
What to do? Before painting, take the acrylic sealant, blade and fill the seam. Remove the excess with a sponge. Only after the sealant has dried, we apply the paint.
Now about the ways to mask the joints
!!! These tips are not suitable for paper wallpapers.
The most popular way is called – "So it'll do!". But it doesn't suit us!) Therefore, I did not include it in my list.
1. Acrylic sealant and color scheme.
2. Wood putty and color scheme of the desired color.
These two options are the most effective, in my opinion. Mix the acrylic sealant or putty with the color scheme to select the desired shade. This can be done with a cotton swab. Fill the seam with the resulting mixture with a blade. Remove the excess with the back of the blade. Wipe from above with a damp sponge.
3. Wax pencil.
4. Furniture marker.
With their help, we simply mask the joints, covering them with a pencil or marker.
A wax pencil and marker are sold in the furniture fittings department. Their disadvantage is that they are sold already in a ready-made palette. It is sometimes very difficult to choose a shade. But if the color matches, then the result looks very good.
5. Steam generator with terry cloth nozzle. We iron the joint with it, the edges of the wallpaper expand from the temperature and humidity and the glue softens. We roll it with a soft butt roller, securing the edge in this position.
