Every welder should have such a magnetic corner.
Good day, fellow welders. Today I am showing you how to make the simplest magnetic corner that will greatly simplify your work. Every professional welder already has one, so the post is more likely for beginners or amateurs.
To work we need a piece of magnet from any old speaker. Two mounting angles that can be purchased at any hardware store. This design uses 3 long M6 nuts and screws for them. Screws must be with a countersunk head.
For reference. A corner 120x120 is used, the shelf width is 35 and the thickness is 2 mm.
Next, we need to make an additional 6 mm hole at the sharp corner (as shown in the photo) and drill two more holes for a 6 mm screw.
We connect the two corners together and drill a hole.
With a drill for 10 we make seats for screws with a sweat. Even if they are not completely flush to sit, then this does not matter.
Now let's start assembling. We install the nuts on one of the corners and fix them with screws.
Next, we install the magnet in such a way that it does not go beyond the limits of the corner itself from the outside, since usually this side is always working.
Install the second corner and fix it with screws. It would be ideal here if the thickness of the magnet is equal to the height of the nut. But if the magnet is less than the nut in height, then the nut itself can be ground off a little. It is highly desirable that the magnet fit snugly against both corners and be clamped by them.
Everything is ready, now we are testing. We see that the magnet is installed on a vertical profile pipe, we put a horizontal pipe on top and the magnetic corner holds well. To check, there is a can of bolts at the edge of the horizontal profile pipe.
The same corner can be used for welding rods or a profile pipe at an angle of 45 degrees as shown in the photo.
