Don't throw old car racks away

Hello everyone, dear homemade products and craftsmen. Today we will use the old rear pillar from the car for other purposes, but we will make a chic and stylish chair for the garage out of it. I will even say more, such a chair will fit perfectly into a modern interior.

By the way, I'm bragging to you. Apparently, my channel is becoming popular and the authors of the channels and just readers are already writing to me in the mail with a request to review various homemade products. It's nice. I am making today's homemade product at the request of a regular reader.

For those who constantly write in the comments that this is all garbage and that you can buy it in the store. But now figurines, you definitely won't buy such a chair)))

Let's go back to the studio and get to work. For work, we need a 20x40 profile pipe, an old car rack, a head and two arms.

Rear pillar from a VAZ 2109 car. It is not necessary to take just one, any other from another car brand will do. The main thing is to understand the idea.

The spring is also needed and very important in our design.

We take a profile tube and cut off three segments, one 60 cm segment and two 28 cm segments. Naturally, we clean all this from rust and other growths))

Now welding work. On a 60 cm pipe segment, measure the center and weld two 28 cm segments to the center as shown in the photo.

Boil on both sides.

Now we take the rack and cut off this garbage, which is in the photo. Alas, I do not know what it is called)

We also clean the rack of dirt so that the teeth shine like a cat's)) Next, we set the rack exactly in the center of our cross and weld it thoroughly.

Important! Here, after welding, a misunderstanding emerged, which could not but show itself. During welding, the legs began to bend under the influence of temperature, especially the pipe, which is 60 cm, bent. So consider that and don't fry too much.

On the inside of the cross, we drill holes and weld the nuts. This is in order to screw in the rubber-supported legs as in the photo below.

If the chair is for the garage, then this additional option can not be done, although with it the chair will be many times more beautiful))

Welding finished. Now we bring all the elements into an aesthetic form, prime and paint.

Next, we make a seat. We cut out a sheet of metal, preferably at least 3 mm thick, since we will fix the seat on it.

Cut out a round seat from a thick chipboard to the size of your priests)) If you are very heavy, then it is better not to take chipboard, but take a wide board. The thickness of the board (seat) must be at least 5 cm.

We make holes in the metal plate. We make holes along the edges through which we will screw the sheet to the seat. Another one in the center, its diameter should be greater than the diameter of the stem of the rack, you will see why later.

The seat of course needs to be refined. In our case, foam rubber 10 cm thick and leatherette were used, well, to make it easier to wash.

We trim the seat and get just such beauty.

Now we put the plate with holes on the seat, mark the central hole.

We drill a hole in the seat with a crown as in the photo. The size of the hole will not say for sure, it depends on which nut you use. In general, you will see everything further and look at your situation.

There are three nuts and a metal washer on the rack stem. Why three nuts, I still do not understand, one would be enough.

We start assembling and install the spring in its original place.

From above, the author installed such a rubber ring. If I understand correctly, it comes with the stand itself. Well, for a chair, it will also not be superfluous.

Now we put on our metal plate, while the spring must be squeezed out a little and fixed on top with a nut, as in the photo. The protruding remainder of the stud must be cut off with a grinder.

It was for this nut that we made a hole in the seat.

Now we attach the seat cushion to the metal plate with self-tapping screws. By the way, make holes in the metal plate immediately for self-tapping screws with sweat. They are certainly not visible there, but all the same, you need to do it as aesthetically as possible. What if the wife likes the chair and she takes it to the house)))

You will get such a functional piece of furniture. If you really want to hang a medal for yourself, you can figure out a back for him)))
