How to entertain yourself in quarantine? Making a flower pot-snail
So the quarantine came and many rushed to their dachas, whoever had them, in order to usefully spend the weekend. If there is absolutely nothing to do, then I propose to consider the option of making flower pots in the form of a shell. I spied on the idea from one bourgeois and it seemed to me very interesting. By the way, it can also be used to make hanging pots for sale, and why not.
Straight to the point. For work, we need plaster, burlap, an inflatable ball, a piece of sheet plastic in A4 format and white acrylic paint on stone for outdoor use.
We fold the plastic sheet with an envelope, as shown in the photo. We fix it with ordinary electrical tape or masking tape.
Next, we inflate the balloon, insert it into a plastic bag (as in the photo) and also fix it with electrical tape. Now we need burlap, which we cut into small square pieces. We make a plaster mortar liquid enough to soak the burlap.
Soak the square shreds in a plaster solution and cover our figure in one layer. It is important that the shreds overlap each other, as they will serve as a load-bearing reinforcing frame.
The base is ready and now we start forming the shape of a snail on a cone. To do this, we take a long piece of burlap, which we roll up with a pigtail, dip it in cement mortar and glue it onto a cone in the form of a spiral, starting from the tip and the cone towards its expansion.
We do not wait until all this dries up and make a new thick gypsum solution, bring it to a creamy consistency. We thickly cover our product with this solution, as shown in the photo. At the same time, use our fingers to remove large streaks and form a shape that looks more like a snail.
After all this has dried, we take sandpaper of medium or coarse grain and smooth out all strongly noticeable irregularities.
Now you need to get the ball. In the place of the layout, where the balloon is located, we need to cut out a cycloidal oval from the top of the balloon to its base. A cycloidal oval is an ellipse, only with pointed edges)) In short, we do it as in the photo.
Now we need to finalize the snail and make the upper visor. To do this, take a square piece of burlap, moisten it in a solution and sculpt it on the top of the snail. Further on the pictures it will be clear.
Next, we take out the plastic sheet from the inside and fill it with a liquid gypsum solution to soak the inside of our pot.
Now we clean it all again with fine-grain sandpaper. If necessary, add the solution to problem areas.
Next, we prime our snail and paint it with acrylic paint. In the upper part of the snail we drill a hole and make a metal hook, for which we will hang it. You can use a rope instead of a hook. A drainage hole is also desirable at the bottom of the snail.
Finally, we fill the snail with earth and plant the plant there.
This is such a beauty as a result. You can experiment with the top slit in the snail as you like, make it wider, narrower, or turned outward.
As for me, the idea turned out to be excellent and very beautiful. You don't need a lot of mind to make it, and the materials are budgetary. Make such a gift to your wife and she will be happy)) And if she doesn't appreciate it, give it to your neighbor Natasha, at least someone will be happy))
In general, I look forward to your comments, likes and subscription. Be healthy and take care of yourself.
