I changed the pallet for a shower stall. Something to think about.

An acquaintance who had worked for 6 years ago called: "We urgently need to change the metal tray for a shower stall, which has already been brought. Work for a couple of hours, nothing complicated, can you do it? "- how not to help here, agreed. But in fact, a couple of hours were not enough, as a number of unforeseen difficulties arose.

Removing the old pallet and breaking the brick base under it is not a problem, the issue was resolved minutes in 40. The silicone that sealed the junction of the pallet and the wall, cut through with a construction knife, and did the same along the arc of the pallet, separating it from the base. Disconnected the drain hose from the sewer and calmly pulled everything out.

The picture shows what the base for the iron pallet looked like. You can calculate how many bricks are needed for it, understand how it is installed and lined. I can only say that a film was laid along the upper end, and the brick that built the arc was knocked off the inner edge by 2 cm in thickness and 10 cm in height so that the pallet would sit normally.

Upon completion of the dismantling, the picture was like this. As it turned out, there is no bottom row of tiles on the wall. It seems to be okay, because new acrylic shower tray can block everything, but it was not there! It turned out to be 10 cm below the level of the first row of tiles, which meant that an urgent need to pick up and buy 10 new tiles, 5 kg of tile glue and a package of grout.

While the customer was transporting the missing materials, he was assembling the cabin, so time was not wasted.

The necessary tile, of course, was not found, so the hostess bought a decor that was more or less suitable in color, from which she built the missing row. Against the background of the new pallet, it turned out pretty nice. Or not?

Then I had to solve another problem - to cut a hole in the side panel of the pallet for the drain pipe. The pallet is not high and is designed more for the sewer outlet located in the floor, but here it comes out of the wall (cm. photo 3).

Moreover, in the end the pallet had to be placed as much as possible by unscrewing its legs in height, so that there is a gap of 4-5 cm between it and the floor. This was necessary to raise the sump to ensure proper drainage of the water. Otherwise, the siphon of the pallet and the sewer pipe would stand at the same height and the water would not drain.

The joint between the wall and the pallet was again sealed with silicone. Hopefully this one won't get moldy either. The old silicone, by the way, remained clean even after 6 years, although it was constantly under moisture. A good sealant, apparently, got caught.

Although the story ended happily, it is still worth taking into account the lessons.

Before buying a stall, you need to think about the height of the new pallet and make sure that it is not lower than the old one or be prepared for unexpected repairs.
It is also necessary to take into account the height of the pallet for the normal drainage of water, so that you do not have to put something under its legs and there is no gap from below.
It is worth considering whether you are ready to spoil the new pallet in order to make a hole in its wall for a drain pipe or a sewer pipe.
