DIY plastic bottle broom for 50 rubles

But there is a way to make your own broomstick from bottles with almost zero cost (if you have a handle). How? I suggest watching videos and descriptions of the process.

First, you need a bottle cutter - a device that allows you to cut strips from plastic bottles for their further transformation into plastic rods:

According to the author, this is the simplest and most ideal bottle cutter. It is done like this: you need to make a slot in a bar with a hacksaw for metal (the depth of cut is the width of the tape). And at an angle with self-tapping screws with a large head, fix the blade for the office knife. We drill a hole for the guide (rod for the bottle holder) - insert a piece of thick wire. Next, with scissors we make a smooth cut of the strip. We push the end of the bottle strip into the slot of the bar under the blade and pull. So we cut the strips. The block must be fixed on the table - screw it with screws through the corners. Before this procedure, the bottom of the bottle must be cut straight off. It will remain unused and the neck will also remain.

To do this, you need a building hair dryer. You can take it from someone or purchase it (sometimes it is a very necessary tool in the work). We heat the end of the tape and manually twist it a couple of centimeters. Next, we clamp this prepared end of the tape into a screwdriver, bring the tape to the working hair dryer and twist the tape into rods. It is necessary to make rods of length from the tape 70 cm. Then they will fold in half and be fixed on the handle. One broom takes about 125 bars. It is approximately 13 bottles.

Moving on. Using the same hair dryer or lighter, heat the middle of each bar and bend them. Then we attach a wide ribbon to the handle of the future broom and hang all the bent rods on it. The tape should be much longer than this string of bars. In the final, we wind the tape around the handle and fix everything with a couple of turns of the tape in a circle. We fix the tape on a self-tapping screw.

You can slightly heat the tape with a hairdryer - so that there would be a heat shrinkage of its length and it better pressed the rods to the handle.

At the end, the rods need to be fluffed up a little - by hand or slightly heating the rods with a hairdryer.

The whole process is shown in the video. The main cost in such a broom is the stalk. The average price for it is 50 rubles. Making a bottle cutter is also almost free. The blade set is inexpensive. Those who do not have the necessary tool are separate costs. The tool will be used for more than just making brooms.
