The builders told how they built this house from SIP panels

An increasingly popular technology is the construction of houses from SIP panels. People in our time, having a great desire to build a house, a summer residence, choose this type of construction technology not only because of cost, but also for a number of other reasons. I'll talk about them in the course of the article. So, to the ardent opponents of this technology, I suggest reading the article to the end. So, the story itself.

One-storey house made of SIP panels with an area 109 m2 (excluding the terrace). With a carport - 132 m2. It was built by a team of two people in p. New peals (several tens of kilometers from Krasnoyarsk).

SIP panel: a structural insulated panel made of OSB sheets and expanded polystyrene as insulation and material that holds two sheets together. There are many negative reviews about this material in the sense that the walls do not breathe and emit harmful substances. All this is below in the article.

Foundation - screw piles with a diameter 89 mm with a wall thickness of 6mm. The diameter of the pile blade is 300mm with a thickness of 6mm, the pile head is 250x250mm Pile length from 3100mm to 4500mm, because plot with a slope. Number -

45pcs. Additionally, the piles are reinforced with braces - a prerequisite if the piles are more than 500mm above ground level (this is done to avoid possible rolling). Timber strapping - as in all frame houses.

House layout. They were built according to the project: from twisting the piles to installing the roof. Everything is done by the staff of the company, which also designs and manufactures a house kit - from this, the quality of the work performed is only higher. The installation of the box at home was completed in 19 days, it took to install the roof 16 days. Total house from foundation to roof with windows and doors - a little over a month. Almost the whole season remains for finishing work and landscaping. Those. another plus of this technology is the speed of construction.

Floor panels thickness - 215 mm, external wall thickness - 170 mm, thickness of partition panels - 120 mm. Wall height 2800 mm. As they said, these are the standard sizes of factory-made panels. And according to the order and specific wishes of the client, we can make any thickness of the panels.

A house with such a thick insulation is very warm - it retains heat like a thermos. This is another plus. You can heat your house with electricity and not have a lot of money for it. About the lack of breathing of the walls - information below.

The roof has a complex shape with a structure of an eleven-slope rafter system. The top coating of the roof is a flexible tile of the Shinglas trademark of a well-known Russian manufacturer, TechnoNIKOL (from the Sonata collection).

One-layer, high-quality flexible shingles shingles. Coverage 20 years warranty. Ideal for mansard and complex roofs with many pitches and passages. There are no large scraps left as when installing metal tiles on such a roof. More about the material here

Also installed roof aerators for ventilation of the attic space and insulated roof passages for connecting the ventilation of the bathroom and kitchen.

External finishing at the time of the end of the work of the brigade was not chosen by the customer. But according to the information, these will be Japanese fiber cement panels. Interior finishing: walls - plasterboard and wallpaper, floor - quartz vinyl tiles, ceilings - stretch. The cost of building such a house as in the photographs - 17 thous. RUB / m2. And then - it all depends on the materials used for finishing. Well, and communications, of course.

If someone needs the contacts of these builders in Krasnoyarsk, write in the comments or on E-mail (on the main page of the channel).

And now the information that I received from the builders about ventilation, about the breathing of walls made of SIP panels.

Ventilation should be in every house built of any material - even timber. Everyone says that a house made of SIP panels does not breathe! Yes, he shouldn't breathe! And no building material should breathe! Otherwise, the whole point of keeping warm in the house is lost!

There is no such thing as the breathing of walls in a house - there is a concept of vapor permeability. This is the ability of the material to absorb moisture from the air and give it away, to conduct it through itself into the atmosphere. Ventilation must breathe!

In all houses, ventilation was always done, even in the oldest log huts there is a Russian stove inside the house, and it has a chimney and a blower - this is also an exhaust system. And in the floor there is a hole in the underground, which is usually plugged for the winter - this is an inflow system, and a lot of fresh air comes in through the wooden windows. This is how ventilation looked like in Russian huts. Ventilation should be in any house from any material and that's it!

There is a standard for the exchange of air in residential premises and it sounds like this: the entire volume of air in a residential area must completely change every hour - and this is according to GOST. To accomplish this, you will have to put a sufficiently powerful fan for the exhaust air outflow or a powerful recuperation / heating system for fresh cold air from the street. And so every hour, 24 times a day (especially if there are people in the house).

Those who understand will understand that this is quite expensive, so everyone gets by with simpler systems. In this house, ventilation of natural induction is used, with the outlets of ventilation ducts in the roof from the Finnish company Vilpe. Quite budgetary, but, nevertheless, efficiently working system. It is possible to use ventilation systems with recuperation - this is a question of the customer's finances. Because the more complex the system, the more expensive it is. But, even the simplest budget system, absolutely adequately copes with replacing the exhaust air with clean air.
