Polymer coatings are increasingly used in construction. Self-leveling industrial wear-resistant floors based on polyurethane varnishes are no longer surprising. This technology is penetrating the field of private objects and interiors.

There is a simple technology, using which you can turn any surface into stone, similar to "washed concrete", but without the use of cement - using only a binder based on polyurethane polymers. I propose to look at examples of using this technology and see what is required for this.

Let's say you are not satisfied with the tiles in the toilet or bathroom. You can easily lay such a coating on top. This coating has an interesting effect of allowing water to pass through. Water does not flow off the surface, but from the base on which the coating lies or seeps through the gravel pad. Perhaps this effect will be superfluous in the bathroom. Soapy dirt and moisture will remain in the voids. This can lead to the appearance of fungus. After installation, such a "carpet" should be poured with a layer of the same polyurethane varnish, making it monolithic.

But on open areas, paths, steps, such a drainage property of the coating can be useful. You can cover both concrete and compacted soil areas.

Ladders can also be finished using this technology. And so that dust does not clog between the stones - pour a layer of polyurethane glue on top.

The base is being prepared (concrete is primed), and the soil base, which will also pass water, is compacted with a vibrating plate. Next, a varnish with small pebbles or stone chips is mixed and applied to the surface.

There is an important point. Water that may remain inside the coating can peel it off the concrete or partially destroy it. I would not risk such paths where ice forms. Those. in open spaces. And used on terraces, verandas, on the porch under the roof. Although, polyurethane varnish perfectly withstands tensile and compressive deformations and is not afraid of certain loads due to ice expansion. It is definitely possible to use the technology in those regions where there is little snow.

A good option would be such a covering in the garage. In the video, the author applied it without a concrete base - immediately on compacted soil. This will save some money. The surface will be drainage and exclusive in appearance.

Such floors and paths do not require expansion and expansion joints. Polyurethane compensates for these deformations well.

To obtain the mass, you will need a two-component polyurethane glue for stone, small pebbles (or stone chips). Knead with a mixer or a powerful drill in a container, pour and level. For 1 m2 of surface, 20 kg of stone and a little more than 1 liter of polymer are needed. Polyurethane varnishes are sold in every city by companies that deal with industrial floors.
